| | | | My LDB, explored places, favorite locations, etc. < on 12/17/2005 8:16 PM >
| | | Any chance at all the My LDB page could look something like this?
Except properly formated, and not static? I made a mock up to illustrate what I'm talking about. I've noticed requests for personalized favorite lists, or lists of places you've explored. Why not either offer people the option to set custom lists in their MyLDB page, or set up a few preset lists that people can drop locations into? Favorites for places you like, places you've visited, places you wish you could visit someday and then an automatically generated list of places you've added to the DB. The option for a linear/expanded view mode, where each section can be toggled on and off to display a quick image of the location, and some basic info. The "view >" link could function like the blue arrow, next unread item option. Finally, when we subscribe to countries, provinces or cities, would it be possible to have the updated locations (and just the updated ones) in the next step beneath it listed? So, if I'm subscribed to Massachusetts, and Franklin gets an update, even though I'm not subscribed to Franklin, I'd know that the location updated in the Mass. directory is in Franklin. I'm just tossing ideas out. The expanded view would help a lot, as would the ability to organize locations. And I think anything to generate interest about the DB is a good thing.

| | | Oooh. I might have to take you up on that one. When I have some spare time I should definetly implement this type of system. Mockups are so useful. -av

| | | Definitely cool mockup. And I agree, explaining that would've have taken waaaay more effort than making the mockup. Well played.

| | | Ok. I was worried. I wasn't sure if posting a mock up might seem offensive or arrogant or whatever to whoever. I meant to post this with the "Your Stuff" request, but I was lazy. I also thought the "Your Stuff" section could be its own page, with links as tabs across the top. This way the buttons on the nav bar would all look more coherent, and personally, I think the section would be easier to navigate.

| | | What are some things you think would be helpful for the "expanded view" to include? The mock up shows: a read state bubble, name, main photo, state/town directory, the basic info, thread/gallery stats, map link, date created, last updated, validated icon, HIT COUNTER, delete link, and a next unread item link. I was thinking a public/private icon somewhere would help, too. But, if Av is going to build it, it might help to let him know what to include. I picked the basic stuff from the DB that I'd like to know at a glance. If there's anything anyone else wants to see included, make some noise about it now.
