Access all areas ...again

Edit by Av: I have corrected the horrific punctuation at least somewhat.

After reading this book, (I wish I had found this site and this book years ago)
Ninj sounds like he was a great person. I wish I had met or spoken with him.

That being said there was something in the book I feel a need to correct. Having worked with surveillance cameras, I feel he understated their function and capabilities.

Ninj said the dome type cameras don't usually move. If a building has any dome type cameras, which are called PTZ Cams (Pan, Tilt, Zoom), these cameras can and will catch you. The resolution of the image produced by these cams is of broadcast quality and they can move. The very best are Sony digital, Pelco, and Panasonic, as well as Silent Witness.

Visit any casino to see a Silent Witness cam. They are in use at the cash desks. They are small black bubbles about the size of your fist with awesome video image.

There is a new cam out there now (I forgot who makes it, but can find out if anyone is interested) that will follow movement and is very cheap and very discreet. The domes themselves are getting smaller as well. Large domes usually mean analog video and small domes usually mean digital video and far better recording quality.

The picture in the book shows a slanted box with a cam in it. That is called a wedge and is mainly used for entryways.

Surveillance systems are improving in huge leaps and bounds. The cameras capabilities are getting better and better.

If anyone wants more info let me know.

Wil

Punctuation, an essential part of sentence formation, should be employed in most writing; valuable punctuation marks include, among others: the period, the comma, the colon, the semicolon, and the dash - all valuable tools to build coherent writing!

NAd after the critique from our resident grammarians (kidding guys).........good information. Thanks for the tip.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

I have corrected the punctuation in your post. Please try a little bit harder next time. If you don't feel like putting any effort into writing your post, why should we put an effort into reading it?

Just because there is a dome camera or even a camera that can move, does not mean that you will be caught by it. It needs to be pointing at you, and someone needs to be watching the video feed and see you.

There are many many places that will mount domes with no cameras in them, so as to give the illusion of security.

Thanks for the tips, I'm relatively new to this whole business so knowing about cameras is very helpful, thanks!

Ok first off sorry about the graamar i was very tired when i wrote this. my grammar sucks at best anyway but being tired made it worse so again I am sorry.

someone said "just because there is a dome doesnt mean there is a camera". if it is a large dome then yes I could agree but the newer cams are all one piece so if it is a small dome there is a cam and if they have PTZ cams
then there is someone watching and that someone will have a patrol route with those cameras. if you can get a good look at them you can see where the cam is pointed usually if you stand directly under it you will see the dome is not completly blacked out and most operators dont usually look straight down with them.
the camera i referred to in my original post that will follow movment is a BOSCH it is an outdoor cam and is pre programmed to track movment so if you are walking by it
it will follow you.
again sorry about the grammar, i can and will add more to this when i am not so tired

At any rate I would treat any camera or dome as if it is pointed at you and a guard is watchin over the screens.. chances in many places there won't be maybe but why risk walkin up to one only to realise that the cops now block the way out and theres security guards everywhere.. Just pointless (if not stupid) to ignore them because eventually by odds one of them will be active..
Being paranoid IS a good thing..
