A suggestion surrounding skills and areas of expertise.

Hey Av, I like all of the new additions to the site. They're making it a lot more user-friendly, and it seems more community-oriented now. I was wondering, what with all the updated ways of cementing friendships and contacts on the forums, if it would be possible to somehow introduce an area-of-expertise section to our profiles, and perhaps allow it to be searchable? That way a new member who happens to be a helicopter pilot can look up other helo-jockeys and other people with his skills and general knowledge base. I think it could also be useful in bringing together other projects and groups. If web designers are in need of graphic artists, or if a photographer is in need of a climber, they could search for the area of knowledge they need help in and pm a few people.

I realize that this is probably going a bit outside of the realm of UE, and I'm not suggesting that this feature be used to help gourmet chefs get info on hot tubs, or patio umbrellas. I just think it has a realistic chance to help folks interested in urban exploration achieve goals related directly or indirectly to this activity.

It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pitty
To be lookin' at the board, not lookin' at the city.

I'm actually going to be implementing a system similar to the Questions system in use on UEA and conceived of by Anymouse. He's given his blessing and I think it could improve the community building on this site.

Yes, the success of UEA has me convinced...

It requires wisdom to understand wisdom: the music is nothing if the audience is deaf.

You are quite bitter, hey?

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

This has nothing to do with "success". It's a simple community building tool.
