I realize this post is almost a year old, but I just found it. I'm currently in Asheville during school months, and even in the other months it's not too far for me to make a day-trip from Charlotte. I don't really know of any places personally, but I'd be up for looking for some/exploring with you if you're still around.

I have lived in Asheville for quite a while and know a decent number of places to explore. Do either of you know of any places?
It would be nice to get a group together sometime.

I'm in Asheville, and I'd be willing to try "again" to get a group of people together to do some exploring. (I failed miserably last time by people bailing out at the last minute each time we'd have a trip.) Feel free to contact me about it. I already know a number of places, and I am currently searching for more. -Drew

This sounds like a good time to try and get people together. Sorry if I don't always get back to people immediately. My internet is sporadic at best some days and so is my mind.

But if we could all decide on a date of something I would be up for some UE. Weekends are most likely best for everyone, and the only big trouble in this city is watching out for bums in Asheville in the winter, and the APD. So lets drop some lines and figure something out.

I would also be up for exploring ashville. Hopefully i will be at UNCA in the fall and would like to check some places out before hand. I have seen a few sites near the trainyard and know that there are all kinds of old factories and such along the french broad, many made into living/studios and many abandoned. So far i havent been into many because I have just been walking alone or with one friend and do not know if many of the old factories are inhabited by the homeless. I would love to explore in the area this summer with someone that knows some sites.

I know a really cool place that I would like to explore. Its the Mountain View Hotel off exit 55 on I-40, next door to the waffle house. I have never stopped there because its in a very visible place, I dont know if there is a back way in, probably so if you drive up the Holiday Inn drive or the road that goes up behind it. I think it would be really cool but like I said its in a really visible area. I wonder if anyone has explored it yet?

Is that abandoned? I didn't think any of the hotels right at that exit were abandoned, they're all pretty new and nice.

Ok, I take that back--it's definitely empty. But I'd never even seen it before! The real question ism is it abandoned for good? It seems crazy to let a Tunnel Rd motel go empty or unbulldozed for a new one, and the sign on the restaurant part say closed for renovations, but it doesn't look like there's any remodeling going on...?

...I didn't have time to go inside, but it would be really easy, and most of the hotel itself can't be seen from the road. There may be hobos.

PS- Was anyone here at the VA hospital Saturday night?

Ive been meaning to ask, is here a group at all in NC?

I'm overly dramatic online AND I only explore for validation. I'm a double threat.

A couple of my friends went in there in 2005 and were caught and arrested. However, the idiots WERE stealing TV's (wtf) They said they would never go back and that there were crackheads and prostitutes in there.

On another note, I go to Warren Wilson and would love to explore during the school months. Right now I'm in New York but will be down late august. Let's do it!
