| | MD - interesting warm-up spots? < on 11/22/2005 3:36 PM >
| | | Hi my name is Piratefriendly, I'm new to this board, but I'm also an old-school UE with quite a bit of college tunnel experience. I'm 30, now living in Maryland, PG county. After biking by Glenn Dale Hospital, I really have the urge to go in and have a look. However, Almost everytime I pass through there, there are cop cars sitting outside. I guess it's a common place for people to goof around? I'm less curious about the hospital building than I am about the other buildings on the site, particularly the one with the tall smoke stack (don't know the name). I'm also curious about the old government land area that's just northeast, with lots of abandoned looking greenhouses. It seems to be still somewhat active... although the activities there aren't clear. About my style: Entering without breaking is number one, I try not to disturb things as they are, short of examining and replacing or opening and closing, as the case may be. I am willing to crawl through extremely tight spaces for long periods of time, thanks to my college tunnel experiences and caving experiences. I won't goof around and climb up rusty ladders or walk on I-beams for the thrill of it... I'm there to explore, not show off. After reading Ninjalicious's posts and infiltrations, I really felt motivated to get back in to UE in one form or another. If you're like-minded and are either familiar with or are interested in going to Glenn Dale some weekend day (or weeknight), contact me or reply here. Also, I'm interested in other PG county places or AA places that are fun/easy to check out, but aren't too busy. Final note: I haven't seen much about the DC subway system. I suspect there are lots of cool places there that await exploration, although I wouldn't go there without a lot more skill/knowledge under my belt in social engineering and research (maps, etc.) Comments are welcome. | | | You can put me on the list for a glenn dale visit. There is a cop paid to live in the trailer there... so you have a 24hr guard that patrols be vehicle, foot and bike.

| | | I'm game, he can't catch us all :-p
Edit::: I worry about exploring stuff in DC. With all the government officials, Pentagon nearby, White House, etc... its just a lot more risky to me to get caught exploring there, if you catch my drift. [last edit 11/23/2005 1:07 AM by res_novae - edited 1 times]

| | | Don't touch DC. There's nothing to explore anyways. But underground in DC? You've got to be kidding me. WMATA Metro tunnels are loaded with sensors, everything form light to motion to chemical agents... one too many rats get down there and somebody is going to know. This isn't Canada.

That would be the above mentioned Glenn Dale.

| | | Chemical agents like terrorist type fare - sarin gas and the like. Currently about half of the stations have them, WMATA is pushing for more.

| | | I'd be up for Glenn Dale, but I live out in Baltimore, and haven't been driving for too long, so I'd need directions or a location to meet up, or something of that nature.

Baltimore has better stuff closer than Glenndale. Do some research and you'll find that out pretty quickly...

Yeah, I've been to Rosewood, which is damn cool, but haven't heard too much about the other stuff around here, and whether it's worth checking out or not.

| | | Go for a drive around the more run-down parts of Baltimore. Just stay away from active ports and you're bound to find something cool and easily accessible.

| | | There are a couple asylums in and around Baltimore that are ripe for the pickin. Some are still partially active. Has anyone ever gotten into the pharmacy building @ Rosewood? Days are numbered there since it's been sold.

| | | It's the one all the way to the left if you're looking out from behind the administration building. The back of it faces the road if you drive to the left and it sits up on the hill, with no access from that side and plenty of fencing. I assume it's the pharmacy building since that's what the dangling sign says.
