Sheppard & Yonge are connected?

The Sheppard Subway Line is connected to the Yonge line, If you look out the front window of the train just before it enters Sheppard-Yonge Station you could see that another set of tracks that make a left turn, south which is connecting to the Y.U.S line, plus I noticed trains at Davisville yard that their roll signs read "Don Mills"...Does anybody know anything about these stretch of tunnels? any good exploring down there? Is it easy to enter the tunnels at Sheppard-Yonge Station?

I have no idea if its easy or smart to enter those tunnels, i do know though that they are active tunnels as there are no maintenance/storage facilities on the Sheppard Line, all work is done at Davisville or Greenwood, same as the other lines.

A good map and article on the Sheppard line can be found at Transit In Toronto.

The Map shows the tail tracks and crossovers and the like.

For their full article.

Of course they are connected -- how else would the trains get into the tunnels?

They're tunnels. They look just like all the other tunnels on the system, except cleaner. I've been in them but they're not that exciting.

Ah Ok, so its a waste of time basically, no good maintenance rooms or stuff like that, where you could hide?

LOL now THAT's funny. You mean the trains aren't eternally trapped inside the tunnels?

Read up. Its all in there, including the answer to this thread. The trains are occasionally (always?) stored at Davisville which means they need a way to get onto the Yonge line. I've actually heard conflicting things about this however. I've heard that the trains are stored in the extra space at Don Mills and Sheppard-Yonge. Not sure if this means all or just some.
