| | | Draining in N.E.? < on 11/18/2005 1:17 AM >
| | | Does anyone out there explore drains in the New England area? I haven't seen any documentation of it on the web; do we just not have any good drains? Do you have to go to a really large city to find big ones, or will smaller cities (like Lowell, perhaps) have them? I haven't found any that go further then you can look through yet, but I feel like there MUST be some...

| | | no i don't think so, we're all so spoiled from the cool stuff we'll never be able to crawl around concrete tubes and say it's the same.
[23:38:31] <metawaffle> I'm surprised the NE forum doesn't fall off UER from the weight of thread locks uer.ca is like / being in the mob / basically, a / ninja mob. - Aleksandar |

| | | Wow, is it just me or does this thread get started every 2 weeks. Heck, I even started one a few months ago. Draining in New England is a lot like heroin. It seems like a good idea at first but the more you lean about it the less appealing it gets. Plus we've got so much wonderful stuff out here that, to me, drains seem not worth it.
The world is not nearly as scary as the TV makes it out to be. |

| | | Draining can be found almost anywhere. Are you in Lowell MA? I'm not trying to be mean, but I just pulled google earth up, and I think I found 2 drains in your town. Part of the fun of UE is finding the stuff. Tracking a creek or ditch untill it becomes a tunnel can be a lot of fun. Download google earth or got to http://www.terraserver.microsoft.com and start following rivers until they disappear... look for creeks that end... follow any water way into an urban area... wait... just go read Ninjalicious's book.. Draining is great fun, but part of that fun is finding them. We need some New England drain pictures in the DB. Have fun and be carful.

Good to know, I'm on it!

If you're looking right at the downtown area south of the big river, you are probably talking about the canals. They run underground, and even INSIDE, as opposed to under, some really nice industrial buildings! But the downtown canals seem to be deep, filthy, and pretty well locked down. I've had my eyes on them since I moved here, although I haven't really studied them systematically just yet...
Part of the fun of UE is finding the stuff. | I couldn't agree more... I certainly wan't asking anyone to tell me where they are, just to confirm that its worth looking, and to get a better idea how to look, so thanks!
just go read Ninjalicious's book. | Is this "Access All Areas" (my copy is in the mail!) or something else? After I started this thread, I read about his early drain exploits, on infiltration.org, so I have a better idea how it works now...

The canals will be a great starting place, drains often enter them. Ninj's book has great tips on finding drains. I bet with some google earth viewing and some water body following... you will find some drains. Post pics when you find them, happy draining.
