| | Defeating Chubb's Magnetic Strip Key Card Readers < on 11/17/2005 5:42 AM >
| | | Does anyone know how to beat these bad boys? I'm thinking either I'd have to buy blank cards and an encoder and make my own cards specific to these locks, or pry off the panel and have at the wires. This second approach is doable as the door in question is in a rarely-travelled location underground. However, there are no exposed screws I can see on the reader.

| | | we had chubb locks where i worked and the security guard was showing me the system, the blank cards all come pre programmed from the factory, on the console you enter the cards serial number. the only way to get these to work is have someone inside enter the cards serial numbers or have a way (which i doubt will work) to mimick an exhisting cards serial number. now in most companies aside from security and the executives no card will open all doors either

speaking of the wires, my experience with chubb proximity detectors is they have tamper switches that disable the reader functions in the system if they are tampered and only securities console will open the door until the problem is fixed.

| | | Might as well take a drill and a hacksaw and just cut a hole in the door.

| | | Excellent advice. Thanks! I guess the only way in would be to borrow someone else's key card.
