Tampa landmark has been renovated...

I was driving around some old haunts yesterday, and was astonished to see that the old Agrico "Bag-Mor" chemical warehouse has been renovated!! This place had been sitting on Hillsborough Ave by the railroad tracks around Eastlake, abandoned for the better part of two decades. Searching some records, I found that the place was built in the 50's by Agrico, then owned by various other chemical companies from 79 -> 84, which is when it appears that it was abandoned.

It sat in severe disrepair until it was sold last year, and since mid 2005, the place has had plumbing work, electrical work, and the site has been cleaned up and new siding placed on the building readying it for leasing. No word on the fate of the landmarkish watertower, there has been no work done to it yet. The site appears to be semi-active, with contractors coming and going.

The place was purchased for 400K on a pretty prime piece of land, industrial wise, and they've taken out over a million dollars on it, I'm assuming to complete renovations. (All information garnered from public records).

It's kinda irritating, because I was *just* about to go on an expedition this past weekend and when I was scouting I noticed that there was new cladding all over and the weeds had been cut back. And this is the only photo I can find of the watertower....it's easy to spot .

(photo not mine)

Interesting. That would have been an interesting building to check out.
