| | | I lived in Charleston SC for a While and I suggest going to Fort Moultrie on Sullivans island. Scattered throughout the island are many empty forts, (check the back side of the main park) but the main fort is for tourists, the other sights may be more interesting for those of us who don't like to pay to have permission to see history.

Yes there are tunnels under them. They link most of the forts together with the satalite forts. Most are blocked off, and sealed up, but I have heard of one running most of the the island. I will try to find more information.

| | | I used to run those when I was a kid, before most of them got sealed off. They were great.

| | | When I was a kid (gosh, only like 8 years ago now, haha) my parents used to take me and my friends to Fort Moultrie all the time. After they started charging for admission, I rarely went inside the for ever again. However, I have been in one of the tunnels - specifically the one inland of the abandoned research station (or whatever it is) about a half mile North of Battery Jasper. A friend of mine lived on one of the streets next to this satellite fort, and we would go exploring all the time. Minus the beer bottles and occasional recreational pharmapheutical users - it's a really cool place. Also, check out the Edgar Allan Poe library. My best friend's Mom is a teacher at the nearby elemantary school, and she's heard of access to the tunnel through the POE library. Cisco.

| | | I discovered today that the two main entrances I've used to get into the Power House on the naval base have been padlocked. A little effort and you can still find a way inside, though. I wonder if they're going to start on the redevelopment soon.
