Dressed for a scarecrow ball.........

| | | In the winter I do mostly mines, and lots of them tend to have water somewhere inside. On days when the temps are below freezing, I wear my summerweight scuba diving wetsuit under light outer gear. Keeps you plenty warm, and if you do get wet, the water heats to body temperature pretty quickly. They are fragile though, so wear something over them to protect them.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | I'm trying to figure out how to deal with snow, at the moment. The main problem is that it's bright white - dark colors stand out strongly. Wear snow-tones, and when you're near or in a building, you stand out just the same. Footprints also present a strong potential hazard...I'm thinking perhaps wear white on the outside with dark colors inside. Might take some time to switch, but it's worth the extra security.

| | | You can perhaps just get a lightweight white parka and pants from Cabelas or something. It'd be pretty easy to remove, and you can wear your other clothes underneath that. As for erasing foot prints, it may be tricky in snow, period. But what you can try is simply using a pine tree branch and brushing your tracks behind you.

| | | Spray paint a trash bag white As for footprints, walkbackwards to the location, or walk in someone else footsteps. Sweeping them away only kinda works when the snow is very powdery.

We just printed some snazy union sweatshirts at my shop. They're ash sweats on the outside with a black windbreaker lining on the inside. They're reversable and have hoods. I can ask about the brand, but since they are sold wholesale from a union shop, I have no idea where you could buy just one of them.

| | | Wear dark or black undergarments-longjohns, (if you wear them), next to your skin. Will keep you warmer.
