Good call! ... I use three picks and two tension wrenches almost exclusively, with the exception of my SFIC wrenches. Get yourself a cheap set of southords for UE, they'll do the trick and aren't that expensive. Save the HPC, Rytan and Falle's for your recreational picking. All you really need is a good diamond or half diamond, a short hook and a snake rake and a wrench and you're good. Practice practice practice! ~Grit.

i just got my order in form southord the other day. i bought the jackknife picks(w/ the plastic handle) and it works fine. to get a little better response and feeling, let a finger rest on the actual pick, instead of just holding the handle. it feels much better.

Those are the ones I have, extremely nice for a compact set.. although I do want to get a full sized set because the jackknife tends to cramp my hand up pretty bad after a lil bit.. Also I broke the plastic body part when I took a spill blading around which kinda pissed me off, which makes me want to also get another jackknife only the steel one..

Hey people...
just wondering if you know of any sites that would ship all the way down to Australia.

I need a lockpick set only a 5-piece after reading this forum.

Also are they illegal equipment? would it be illegal to have them shipped here? i don't know much about this subject so if anyone could help me out greatly appreciated.

Usually governments have policies about shipping lockpicks through the mail, and you should check with your local government to assess their legality. You could also try making your own, often times they're just as good! Have fun ~Grit.

On a related note. It has been 1 and a half months since I ordered my lockpick set from CommandSurplus.com and I am pissed.

I got the basic SouthOrd 14-piece set, and one thing I've noticed with it is that the picks are far too large to fit into the keyway of many, many locks. The ones that DO accept my picks seem to be an overly snug fit anyway - not enough room to 'bounce' the pick at all, and I've had to stick with raking. I recommend buying a set of smaller-sized picks, though I've no idea where such a set can be found. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Try the Euro/Japan slim lines made by southord ... you will probably find them in the same place you found yours. Peterson also makes slimlines.

Can't you file yours down with a metal file / sharpeneing stone? This way you can get the fit you want. Also, i bought the cheap set from those random stuff sellers, budk i think, and it doesn't seem to be too thick.

How to crack a combination lock
http://www.metacaf..._combination_lock/
I haven't seen these types of locks on buildings and such and I doubt they are used in such places but it's still an interesting tutorial. After watching it I'm tempted to go buy a lock and try it myself (instead of using my brain to memorise the steps and use them in a real life situation if necesary but hey... it looks like fun...master thief type of fun!).
