distraction measures?

Well I'm almost positive everyone here has played the game Theif before. Anyway let me get to the point. You can throw objects to distract persuers from your trail. I understand that if their just checking an alarm, that they may consider it to be faulty/defective and that a perp may not be in the building. It would be stupid to use one then. What if you have been spotted but not detained? Could using pebbles or marbles thrown into the other side of the room be used as means of evasion? What do you all think? If your caught, there is no point, but if there is a chance...

Can you explain how throwing pebbles in a room is supposed to allow you to get away? Some of us have not played this game.

I guess this would rarely work but what he means is if youre in a building and are being looked for by security/police then causing a diversion somewhere else in the building you might be able to sneak away while the go look for what caused that noise. You would have to be pretty lucky to be in a place where this would work, but i guess there is a slight chance of it working. For any of you mgs players you would probally be better off then most. lol

Why get caught, and take a chance of going to jail because of some upset cop?

In hind sight, I realize that it is better to come clean rather than have resisting arrest on top of tresspassing. sorry for the wasted space/time.

Well if it's only a security guard you need not worry about the resisting arrest part if you make a run for it.

From my experience security guards usually arent up for a run to try and catch a group of people at night..especially if theyre only armed with a night stick. I guess that applies to where you are when how many security guards there are, but I've yet to be chased by any security.
Cops on the other hand arent worth running from unless you're positive you'll sucessfully escape, or if you cant get caught, i.e., a criminal record that tresspasing wouldnt go to good with. (I'm not in that position but have UE'd with people who are.)

I really doubt such stuff like distractions works in real life.

Ya. Haven't you seen at the end of Predator where Dutch throws that rock?

I think it would be more helpful if you had magic acorns like in "Willow." Then you could just turn the guard into stone....unless of course he has powers greater than even you.

This only works on cheesy TV shows and not in real life.

Or one of those evil, but really cool magic rings that Frodo wears and among other bitching things could make you invisible....

First off, you should not put yourself in a position where you could get caught or captured, especially stealing something. I am a strict enforcer of noise and light discipline. If you can't be seen or heard, there's a much lesser chance of being noticed.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I am in no way advising you on how to deter the authorities, if you're dumb enough and get caught acting unlawfully, then you deserve to face the consequences.
