Maryland is itself a rock. :-p

Too bad it seems to have better buildings than VA...

YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!!!
What about Blue Ridge Tuberculosis Sanitorium, huh? And the Belle Isle Hydroelectric Plant? Not to mention all the kick-arse drains.

Nope. MD beats it hand down.

We've got NRL, Henryton, Glenndale, basically all of Baltimore, and some places which must not be named...

But MD doesn't seem to have as many drainers (at least from what I've seen on the boards).

Ya but for those of us who aren't drainers, MD beats at least the easily accessible buildings in Northern VA.

I apologize to any Marylanders, but just entering that state depresses me. At least Southern Maryland, up towards PA and Jersey is fine, there's just something about Southern Maryland that is eternally depressing.

Maybe its just the cocaine from DC is replaced with Heroine or something like that...

We don't need to settle for drains when we have so many cool hospitals.

I don't "settle for drains" either, I just prefer them. Come on drainers, help me out.

Whatever floats your boat. There are some drains in the maryland section though, I just prefer buildings so I've never really checked them out.

You should go in some. Just go in a good one to start. A lot of people's first drain is some lame concrete pipe, so they think all drains are like that.

I did one in Columbia about a month ago. The only way I'd really do drains reguarly is if we had some like those drains they have in Australia that open onto the ocean.

We don't have drains like that here either. In fact most of the drains are only 6' (2 meters) or so. But they are still very fun to explore, and every now and then you find a huge drain. There's more on an "exploration" feel to draining, because you really don't know what to expect around the next bend.

No need to setle for drains, I prefer them. Moldy old buildings just don't do it for me. Drains, however, totally flip my turtle.

I'm really from Carmel, Indiana, but I'm in Knoxville, Tennessee right now going to Johnson Bible College.

Although I have done things like this before (going in places I shouldn't in the dorm the guys from my church stayed at during a trip, like the boiler room), I don't really consider it much so I'm just going to be safe and say Im a complete newbie at this. I do hope to get together with someone in the area this week to start off though.

Experience: I guess about 4 years. I've been fascinated by creepy abandoned buildings ever since I was a kid though.

What I love most is exploring large hospital complexes or looking through long forgotten personal items in abandoned houses. Overgrown ruins are wonderful, especially if they're away from civilization and set a post-apocalyptic mood.

I hope to meet some other explorers on here. So, hello. :]

Location: College Park, MD (PG County) but I grew up in Silver Spring. Lived in Baltimore, Glen Burnie.

Experience: Not much. I use to wander the woods. Grew up near an abandoned barn. My house was built on a plantation grounds.
Moved to Baltimore, noticed a lot more abandoned buildings--use to go "Ghost hunting" so i got introduced to a lot of places which were old, decrepit, or abandoned. UE is a lot more appealing in the end.

Misc.: I really want to learn more about photography; architecture, gothic, and the natural cycle i find the most appealing subjects so i'm out to learn.
