Vagrants and scrap thieves in that place has been like a three-times-a-day occurence. Probably some dumbass with a cutting torch; methamphetamine + fire = fucking moron arsonist.

On the bright side the place was pretty much trashed anyway, and it was only the one building not the whole brewery.

It was also the only building I am aware of that actually consisted of more than about 5% wood. The rest of the brewery is pretty safe from just about anything but a wrecking ball.

It is a pity though, since the building that burned was a neat one with a bunch of chandelier parts in the upper floor and really, really warped floorboards. There was also a bunch of unbroken (yes, unbroken!) glass panes stored in a closet on the lower level.

I have been told that a bit of the next building over was damaged a bit by the fire. That building would be the multi-story warehouse with the partially-intact keg-o-vator against the back wall.

I noticed the other day when I was biking in the area that all of the huge holes in the fences have been patched in a rather professional manner. If this is what it takes to get the place sealed up again, then so be it. Based on how much the place has been absolutely trashed recently, the attention to basic perimeter security was long, long overdue.

Agreed! I would much rather be inconvenienced with razor wire and a tall fence to climb, than see a location get burned or vandalized.

Aw, dammit, it was my room that burned? I didn't recognize the location from the other stories up to this point. Darn, I liked that part of the building.

Post a picture of me balancing a chandelier on my head in ther, slacker.

Its in St Paul the other twin of the twin cities. The two cities are pretty much linked together.
And no the Pabst brewery I think you might be thinking is in Wisconsin.

There used to be a Pabst Brewery in Newark NJ. I used to see it all the time when driving down the garden state parkway.

The dirty bums were likely burning the insulation off the wire. The recyclers won't take the copper if it has insulation on it.

I added a gallery to my website with my pics from inside the building that burned down... these were taken about a month before the fire.

Thanks for sharing the great pictures mynameisglass. I especially like the picture of the Buroughs printing / typewriter machine. I have a special spot in my heart for that thing.

All done!
Sorry but it's Full Members only: I've already seen some assholes trashing the place so I'm hesitant to announce to the internet the location and status after this fire. Any imput?

If you're tired of people trashing it then why in the fuck would you make an LDB entry for it?

Because there are a lot of responsible explorers that don't know about it that could profit.

No need to be too harsh towards glass. I think ETMJ's point, and correct me if I am wrong, is that there are a lot of great sites in the Twin Cities that aren't on the LDB for that very reason. Interested explorers will more than likely find these places through word of mouth, or from their own researh. I am sure a lot of other people here, myself included thought of putting Stroh's in the LDB, but chose not to in hopes of protecting it for a few more years.

Any way, nice gallery Glass.
