| | | I have a small business in an old building next to an even older train station. The station sits pretty much abandoned. The rail company can't very well sell it since it's surrounded by tracks, and they're far too cheap to restore it. Anyway, just a bit ago, this guy pulls into our parking lot and starts walking around taking pictures of the station. So I go walking up and ask "so how's it going?". He looked like he was sure he was busted for trespassing. I just talked to him for a bit about the history of the station. He explained he was on his way up to the Mackinaw Bridge for the bridge walk tomorrow, and is checking out all the old stations on the way. I wished him luck and walked back inside. Anyone else ever catch someone off-guard like this? Edit: added pic of the station

| | | The property I work on has been around since the early 30's as an elevator manufacturing company. In the 40's it was converted to a Military GP vehicle outfitting and repair shop. My company, Central Signs, bought it in 1970. Since then, the property hasn't really been taken care of. The buildings are almost suffering the same decay that abandoned buildings would, but around us. We have old equipment from the early 30's being stored around, equipment from the 50's through the 70's that we still use... and we have 2 old semi trailers going to waste, 2 old trucks sitting there rotting away... I catch people sneaking onto the property to look around all the time. They think it's abandoned.

| | | Evenstar and myself once caught a couple of veteran local Twin Cities explorers off guard by entering a certain tunnel system right as they were leaving ... it got all of our hearts pounding to hear the telltale signs of life on both sides of the door, at least until they caught sight of Evenstar's red head-beam. We then had a good time sharing our exploits.
