Personally, I'm not such a fan of women in skimpy night dresses. Looking at these stupid skinny girls just pisses me off and makes me laugh.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Saw the movie. Technically, it's the worst film I've seen in years, I'm surprised Sony bought it and distributed it. Anyway. Must have costed close to nothing to produce so anyway...

It's an awful film. Like most 'urban exploration' or 'ghostly' related movies, it sucked. Watch it for the location, not for the storyline, the characters, or the acting.

I rented it yesterday. The movie is wretched, with bad acting and a painfully predictable story.

The building is beautiful, and now stacked with my love of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and Hunter Thompson will prompt my ass to get down to drink some bourbon and explore.

Evidently the current owner allows tours for $20. I'm personally not much of a fan of sanctioned exploration, but in this case I'll pay it. A previous owner tried to get the building condemned (he couldn't legally knock it down and he wanted to do so in order to build the world's largest statue of Jesus), so he fucked the site right up. The $20 fee to see it is applied to keeping the building from coming apart, a worthy cause in my opinion.

Based on the research I did last night after watching the movie, pretty much every historical fact is true. The death count is fairly accurate, the suicide happened, the person who froze to death is correct, and the nurse leaping to her death is true.

So verdict: Movie sucks, but as evidenced by the fact that 12 hours after seeing it I've already done a crapload of research on the hospital, the site is worth watching the film for.

If you do come down, let me know. I can arrange for other 'tours' of similar places nearby.

The owner started doing the tours several years back in late-2003. We got into the place with the owner's permission, before the tours really began, and got to explore every nook and cranny. It's worth the $20 for a DAYTIME tour - it is $100 for the 'ghost hunting' night tour bullshit.

There is an earlier article I posted about Waverly Hills - do some backsearching - it's from a H-L article that discusses the once proposed jesus statue and how absurd it was.

The building currently has new triple-paned windows on the first FOUR floors (that is amazing in itself), a working sprinkler-fire retardant system, and a patched roof. The laundry room is also now the welcome center. All through donations and hard labour on the efforts of the owners.

Come to Louisville and enjoy Fourth Street Live! and see the Makers Mark Lounge. You'll love it...

Me too! I'm a big fan of green silk contrasted against peeling paint!

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

Seicer,

I did quite some research on the building, ever experience weird stuff on the 4th floor yourself?

It's not a question of if, more a question of when. The Kentucky Derby, Hunter Thompson's childhood stomping grounds, Waverly, the Wildcats, and the bourbon. I'd have a wonderful time for sure, and I'll definitely warn you of my arrival.

But movies are sometimes better when they are low budget. They keep you laughing and wondering, can anyone out there really be that dense?

Mmm... Makers Mark. The perfect end to a perfect evening. Or the cocktail hour. Or whiskey Wednesday, just after tequilla tuesday. Jim, jack, johnie and Jose. All my favorite men.

I watched this film today.

I could not have been more appalled if I had woken up one morning to discover someone had left a pile of aborted fetuses on my bed while I slept; this was perhaps the most shockingly AWFUL film I have ever seen.

This film sets the new standard for suck, with shit acting, a story that.. well, what was the story(?), crap special effects and the most horrid abuse of a cool location that I've ever seen.

10 Minutes in I felt like my intelligence had halved.
30 Minutes in I felt like my bowels would explode.
100 Minutes in - I felt like I had been abducted by a race of Barbara Streisand worshipping aliens and endured hellish torment by their hand.
120 Minutes in (film over) I awoke in a field, naked.

In summary, if you are offered a viewing of this film or having your genitalia paper-cut 100 times and vinegar rubbed on?

Go with the cuts.

I want my money back, I want my time back - and god damn it I want this Streisand brand Alien Anal Probe REMOVED!

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

Has anyone seen the documentary "Spooked"? It was on TV last night but I missed it.
