I am new to the site and a new member of the forum. I came to find this website by trying to find pictures of the ogilvie mill. I then became very interested in UE and the interesting places that you can explore.
As many Winnipeggers i have lived in this city all my life but have not had the advantage of exploring many of the old buildings we have here. One building that has always interested me is the Union Bank Tower on 504 Main Street. This is probably one of the most famous buildings in the city yet i do not believe there are any interior pictures only ones of the outside. The building was built in 1904 and from what i have heard the interiors of the banking halls were lavish and finished in coloured marble on the walls, counters and floors, with mahogany and marble tables. The ceilings were finished with gold leaf details. Also i have provided pictures below.

This is one of many places i would like to explore as to find out what lies inside this 100 year old building, one can see there is a fire escape to the left?

I just happen to be by there today, and I was curious to find looking in, new construction materials, plastic tarps and the like piled up. Does anyone know of any soon to be renovations to this grand building?
and yes, the fire escape is there....

| | | | I have been inside of it and honestly it is quite a boring building. The only interesting portion of it is the main floor and its large and architecturally stunning ceiling.
