| | | Subway Party - Tuesday August 16th < on 8/12/2005 7:13 PM >
| | | I got this info from stillepost.ca... -------------
A party. On the subway. Deep below the streets of Toronto on Planet Earth, subterranean bliss erupts before your eyes. You step onto a subway car, hear three chimes and suddenly you are riding the rocket. Ads are replaced with art, aliens blow bubbles, astronauts dance and robots sing. On Tuesday, August 16th, we invite you earthlings to join us in a subway party for a night of cosmic proportions. Bring: costumes, instruments, bubbles, decorations, space toys, glowsticks, moon boots or just a friend to the southbound track of Downsview station at 11:17 PM. Our destination: the moon! We blast off with enough time to catch the last rocket back to Earth. Tuesday, August 16th, 2005 Ride the Rocket subway party Downsview Station, Toronto 11:17pm. Meet at the end of the southbound track.
The fine print: You can join the party at any point of the route (just wait by the last car at your station). This event is all ages and 100% free. There is no need to sign up, simply show up, but make sure to join our mailing list (here)! If you would like to help out, please contact kevin or lori (at) newmindspace.com (how?) Please respect our transit workers: leave the subway car clean so they will welcome us back. Check back nearer to the event in case the time is changed (to accommodate the last train). Please forward this to fun people and relevant blogs!

| | | Even if they didn't okay it, there's not much they can really do to stop it.

| | | That sounds whacky... yet cool. If I were some kind of weirdo trekkie I'd be so down with this.

| | | I was on the Y-U-S last night, and didn't see anything that resembled a subway party... and I was at St. Patrick at the time they should've gone through. Unless they were that security incident I heard about on the soubthbound platform at Glencairn.

| | | There was an article on this in the August 18 edition of Dose. I can't find a link on the website, unless you go look at the pdf version of it. It basically says that it went pretty well. The TTC nabbed one guy for drinking beer and told people not to stand on the seats, but otherwise left them alone. The pictures make it look like fun, but of course everyone smiles and looks happy when they have a camera shoved in their face.
