I have a suggestion... and it deals with icon overload. With that "B" icon and the new Bumfest icon, you have just too many to deal with. Many people now have two rows of icons, and I have seen one user with three rows. Since it seems UE meets will be commonplace, why not just put a text listing of the meets they have attended within their profile (e.g. clicking it) rather than putting up a new icon?

yeah, icons are kinda dumb status symbols. I know some close friends of mine would like some more but I personally don't have any use for them.

Just use the infiltration version of the forums, there's no icons: http://www.uer.ca/...showcats.asp?fid=3

Well, I was mainly making a point about the meet icons. They would be better served IMO if they were in your profile as text, as providing too many icons would require too many people to be reminded what they are.

like I said, its worthless status symbols. Seicer and I agree for once, however I don't think any stars should be used.

I don't recall disagreeing on anything recently but then again I don't look at old posts all that often

I think this idea has been mentioned before but i'll add it anyways. The best thing to do is to put all the icons in ones profile page and remove them from the thread pages. That way, those who like the icons still get to keep them, and those who don't like them don't have to look at them.

Well I personally wish we had more icons along the lines of the gay pride icon. Like one for a certain preference of mine...

I think thats just over stepping the boundaries of this forum. The current pride icon is enough, I think what you're saying is too much un-needed information. Lets remember this is the Urban Exploration Resource.

Shrinking her down would be kind of against the idea wouldn't it... heh.

Back on topic...

I agree that as more events are added, it becomes a little too much information.

So, perhaps the solution is one "Attended Major Event" icon, which, when clicked, provides a listing of all the other events this person attended.

This means I can also give listings for smaller events such as APEX and UTEX and whatnot, as well as individual entries for OPEX 94 vs OPEX 95.

Sounds like a pretty good solution to me.

I personally think that the icons are a good thing. I believe that it helps people get more involved in the forum, and the site as a whole. Especially if you have to do things to earn the icons. If anything, the icon system should be expanded, and become more in-depth. Maybe even add more level's for the user's instead of just three.

Level's that I suggest:

1 - no account, or if somebody gets banned, they just get put down to this level, so they are not allowed to post.

2 - Limited, like it is now, but can still post, so kept the same.

3 - Same as now.

4 - Moderator. Have different stars for different type's of moderators.

5 - administrator. Have different stats for different type's of administrators.

That's just my suggestion, some of you might not want, or like it. But just thought I would add my 2 cents worth to help make the site better.

That's more or less like it is now:

L0 = no account
L1 = requested account
L2 = Basic member = Yellow flag
L3 = Full member = Green flag

L0 and L1 can't post, so even if they had a flag, you would never see it (unless you clicked on their profile) as they can't post (yet).

Mods and Admins have a blue and green star, and are L3 per se. You could call it L4 and L5.

Ok, this feature has been coded and is in place.

See the new thread about getting an icon for your event.
