Lookin for places in Rhode Island

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site, only been on for about a day actually. Just wondering if anyone knows any decent sites in rhode island that I haven't been to yet. I've already been to Royal Mills, Scott Labs, Ladd Center, Boy School at ACI before it was gutted and few other places I don't know the name of. So if you know of any places other then these please drop me a line. Thanks.

I can totally recommend Rocky Point in Warwick. It's an abandoned amusement park on at the END of a peninsula in the Narragansett Bay. It takes some measure of mucking around to FIND it, the local streets are confusing. Once you DO, park at the cheesy local BAR parking lot right around the corner from the entrance, don't EVEN think of parking near the closed off front gate, you'll uh, get noticed. I'd also recommend going on a day you know the cops will be busy with other things. I went on Xmas eve. Totally worth it. Easy access, the lame-o chain link fence has been beaten down by previous, uh, visitors.

I have a gallery on my site, taken XMas eve 2004. We got there LATE in the day, it was overcast and the light was fading, but I managed to get a few good shots before the light totally went. I hear there are plans to completely demolish what's left and put up condos or something, so go soon if you can.

Directions can be found here (tho they make it look easy, HA!): http://www.joenisi...ges/directions.jpg

History and other anecdotal gunk can be found here:

My partner grew up in Providence, and even tho I haven't made it there yet, he says Woonsocket is FULL of abandoned factories. I plan on getting there next time we're up in the RI area.

New here too, welcome!

Please don't post up entrances, parking spots, and directions to places on the public forum where anyone can see them. I believe it's against forum rules to do that.

btw, about Rocky Point, you might not want to go there, security and police presence has been stepped up lately, and people are getting arrested left and right there.

Thanks for the suggestions. Hmmm woonsocket hadn't thought of it. Maybe have to scout around there. Rocky points cool haven't been there scince I was a little kid. Heard most of the good stuff was already gone. But still it would be something to do.

There is security at Rocky Point
Had a merry chase last time
The guard is a little gung-ho, he was burning rubber with his Crown Victoria when he saw us
And they know all of the ways in so they might be waiting for you
The place is really trashed now and all of the rides are gone

We did some research at rocky point at a local bar (great place of information for anywhere by the way). There is a police officer whose entire job is to guard rocky point and he does a good job. I actually wouldn't mind his job. Just parking on that overlook over the ocean, watching the park. Everyone in the town seemed to like him so I figured we wouldn't give him any trouble. Even the local kids don't go there anymore. Besides, I saw recent pictures of it and it was not that impressive at all.

With all the placed in the tri-state area I don't know why people go ga-ga over the high security places. There is much better.

The world is not nearly as scary as the TV makes it out to be.

A cop just to guard basicly a vacant lot??? Well I guess there's not too much to do over in warwick. I was iffy about goin up there anyway, most of the rides and stuff being gone. Thanks for the warning though. Really though a lot of places I've been too or that where on my list are being rebuilt/torn down/burned down/ or otherwise wrecked. I'm really gonna miss Royal Mills though, that place was HUGE took at least 5 trips to explore most of it. I've never seen so much interesting shiat in one place. If your ever in warwick just take a look at the building(I wouldn't go in now last time I went by it was fenced of and people where workin on the main building). It's not hard to find just look for the giant ROYAL MILLS sign. A word of warning to anyone who just can't resist, this place has some EXTREMELY dangerous spots proceed with caution.

MovingUnit,

Right, new user and I saw that AFTER I had posted! Point taken, and I did read the rules after I had made that mistake. Thanks for the info! And GOT IT!
