There doing a major conversion to retail and loft apartments. A good site to read up on it is ... http://www.fortwor...e.com/cd/wards.htm

It was a long fight on what was going to happen and was almost torn down on several occasions but the historical groups and everyone finally agreed what their doing is better than just blowing it up!

yea it does blow from a UE perspective. I was just glad they didnt just blow it down. The building had no historical designations even though most felt it should have so the owners basically were able to push through what they wanted since they basically said hey work with us or we will just implode it and build apartments. I noticed this weekend they are now underway on the old train depot also. I was there sunday and was going to do some exploring there and wanted to do some photo work but it was crawling with about 300 guys working. Dont know what there keeping or if they gutted it yet. Another great UE site down the drain.

speaking of great FTW sites going down the memory hole, texas steel is about half-gone. i was so sad to finally get over there to check it out, and already so much is gone and the worst part is it's being demolished to make way for (i shit you not) "El Plaza de los Americas". good-bye texas heritage, hello silly notion of "the americaS".
