And their Parkdale natural gas fired generating station has been taken off grid and going to be sold.

I used to work at the plant on Eagle Mountain Lake and know my way around that. I always enjoyed being out there around all that machinery. I understand it's shut down but as I remember, there were at least two security guards there 24/7.

parkdale was taken offline last year and had only been run during peak hours in the dead of peak season for about 6 years prior. apparently it wasn't very efficient and is responsible for the, ahem, slightly elevated levels of mercury in the parkdale neighborhood.
have you noticed any activity up there? i just got through with a long job and am taking a little down time (finally!)

no visible activity

there was the ubiquitous white pick up parked in front of an office building and lots of lights on in different places

dome camera on a post by front gate

side gates locked/overgrown with brush

bridge over creek closed making access through a neighborhood only

there was steam coming from the plant last winter

Seaholm Power Plant.

I got in there one time without really even planning it out. Very, very cool place with 3 underground levels and lots of stuff in the 2 or 3 floors above ground. No machinery left though. They were cleaning the place up for future use when I was there. As we were leaving, we spotted the security guard that we didn't know was there. Kinda freaked me out a bit but since we were already outside the fence, he probably didn't have any idea that we were even in there.
