Anybody know about this house?
< on 6/20/2005 4:40 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER Forum

Here are two pictures from an abandoned house in Baltimore County, something spooked us off so thats why I only got 2 shots and never made it inside. The only thing I find odd is the picture of the boarded up front door, as you can see in the picture theres a weird looking black figure on it. The strange thing about it was the board was brand new clean board not any marks on it.

- This should be in the Mid-Atlantic section, not photography.
- I don't see the figure you're talking about.
- None of those boards look 'brand new' or 'clean' to me, but if they did, why would that be odd? People break into things all the time, so new boards are put up all the time.
- Go find a ghetto somewhere -- there are tons of houses like these.

There's like a billion abandoned houses in Baltimore County, the pics don't show enough to make identification easy. Where is it?

Buildings have two natural enemies- water, and bears.

- I read I can post this in the Photography section or in the Midatlantic section, guess what I chose?
- The thing that was odd is the front door board was clean and brand new, it didnt show up in the picture as that.
-You live in Connecticut there are not ghettos.

It took me a few looks to see what black thing your were on about. It looks a bit like those Native American pipers or what not. However, I do believe it’s just an interesting water mark or a chemical of some sort. It would not have come on in natural light but when you directed your flash it was illuminated. This happens often to me. Just a thought.

This should be in mid-atlantic section. Its asking about a specific location that is unidentified, so hardly any other of the many users across the country can contribute, but people in the Maryland section might be able to help with a few more details... If you were sharing the photos for there value in showing urban decay or asking for tips this would be the place for them. Im not trying to be a jerk, I am just throwing that out there for ya....

EDIT: a lot of your photo threads fall into this category...

I had to go and look at that shot again to know what "black thing" you were talking about as well. It just looks like a shadow or like BuyMeAPony said, a chem. stain or water mark. Unless you saw it upclose and can say that it's not a chem. stain/water mark, then I'm sure it was a shadow. But it's cool looking...

Nah there was nothing on the board when i was up close to it, can it still make a chem stain with a digital camera. It kinda looks like the planters peanut character.

Yes you can still get a chemical stain from developing it the people at convenience stores usually chemically edit pictures to make them more visible. But since you took it with a digital, then it had to of been a shadow, your shutter doing something odd, or something on the lense.

Have you been to Connecticut? The last time I was in Hartford there were definitely some low income or run down houses. Of course, it was not as bad as the slums in Baltimore, but thats extremely naive to think that Connecticut has none.

PS Do you know what roads are near the house? That would help.

On the subject of Connecticut -- Bridgeport, CT was #2 in murder in the United States in the 80's, so I hear.
I also live in Boston.
