WARNING HENRYTON NIGHT GOERS

some friends and I went to go to henryton tonight. we parked at the church, and walked down to the tracks. when we got there, there were two cars one with a door open. and we just kept walking. one turned out to be a truck and the other one was a car. it was the Natural resources police. they turned some strobes on and told us to stop. my friends were planning on camping so they had all the stuff to do so. they searched all of our stuff and patted us down. then they took our licenses and went back to their cars. I asked what kind of trouble we were in, and they just said that we werent in much, there wasnt going to be any arrests, they wouldnt tell us what we would get. then they finally came back and gave us warnings for being on a closed park after hours. we didnt give away that we were going to Henryton, but i think they kind of figured. we did have to tell them that our cars were parked at the church though. so this is just a warning cause I dont know if they will do this more now that it is nice out. I thought i would just warn you of what happened to us.

Wait, where exactly were you when they caught you? Partly down the tracks? I'm sure it is because of those little shitheads falling in the river last week, I just hope it doesn't mess with daytime trips.

Yeah, i agree. I'd hate to see this place get blocked off because some people couldnt find a better playground.

Watch Henryton get a nice new batch of boards and signs, as well as a few more park police patrols.

Just don't go to Henryton at night, it is so easy to during the day.

agreed. we have a similar situation up here at byberry asylum. there was a death back in march, an inspector fell thru a thin, rusted stairwell and the cops seem to be up there almost every fri/sat night for something, but if you have any experience, you can get in and out pretty unscathed and it's a shock to the senses to hit the place at night as it really comes to life as a living horror movie, despite its emptiness and excessive vandalism.

Yeah going at the day- you're more prone to running into someone but going at night gives you the assurance that you probabley won't. Though i have heard some stories of night encounters..

If you're going during the day parking by the tracks is fine, but it's state park property so you can't park there at night. There's other little parking lots down the road you can use for a night time trip though.

I was out at Henryton today for a few hours (see journal). Didn't run into any law enforcement. I DID see the infamous white truck and saw some other UE'rs, but not anything else.

Awesome! Glad you made it out for a successful trip. If you havent already heard, the white truck is just servicing the nearby water pumping system a little further along the train tracks. I'll be looking forward to reading your journal entry.

Yeah,

I had read up on it and knew it was for the pumping station. The couple I saw, upon observation, were fellow UE'ers wandering the property. I doubt they even knew I was there. This being my first trip, I was somewhat unfamilar with the lay of the land and so it was rather interesting. I may go back this weekend, as I'm on vacation, if you'd like to tag along, feel free. I'm particularly interested in doing the tunnels inside the walls, need to bring some masks for that though and possibly extra flashlight batteries. This whole week off I've pretty much spent exploring sites and rekindling my old hobby.

What are you referring to when you mention the "tunnels inside the walls" at Henryton?

Specifically,

The "Alice in wonderland" doors in the building up above the Administration building, which I will heretofore refer to as the Resident evil Mansion, due to appearence. These tiny doors seem to dead end to a casual looker, however actually below the pipes here are crawlspaces that wind within the walls and below the buildings, lined with pipes. Steam Tunnels, etc. I was not the first person to crawl down here as I found some used flares on the ground people had used down here. I'm not sure HOW extensive these tunnels are, but I'm fairly positive if the route from the power plant to the buildings is there this is the way to go.

I'm pretty sure these are what you're talking about. This picture is in the room at the end of the hallway (1st floor) in the Admin. building, but i havent walked through the tunnels, so i cant say where they go or anything.

He said the building above admin, I guess he means the children's building, the one with the arches on the front. I'll have to take a closer look next time i'm in there.
