| | | I tend to leave plastified card with my URL on it on sites. Got some nice E-mails with that. I noticed on Cheratte that there was even a board with several names and URL's on it. I find that very nice.

Good idea. I'll copy you if you don't mind It reminds me when I used to explore the Paris catacombs. People there use to hide tracts, for example at the end of a cul-de-sac that you can only reach after crawling on 50m...

No Problem. These cards look more professional and preserve longer than paper. What I do is putting a hole in the corner into them with a holepuncher (hope that's the right word for it in English) and use plastic straps to put them where I want. When someone comes across they can just pull them of the strap. It doesn't leave any damage either.

| | | Now there's a spectacular idea. Advertise where you break, enter, burgle and trespass. Oh yea...and vandalize if you're a graffiti "artist".

Only entering and trespassing, I never break in or burgle. Plus, these pics are taken in Belgium, were most people don't really care if you trespass abandoned property. I don't know about you, but I don't see putting up a paper with a url as "vandalising".

Same here, 100% agree! I see abandoned places almost as museum, if possible don't touch or disturb anything. As long as we don't tag the place with our name, do not blow up the door to enter, I do not see something wrong here. For the privacy, I would not leave my url in a semi-active military camp for example, where people would really put some effort to find you back!

| | | Har!!! You found it!!!! I'm surprised it didn't disappear any sooner since there's a lot of traffic on that site.
And indeed, very few people in Belgium care if you enter an abandoned place. It's not like in the US here in Belgium (lucky for us).

| | | I thought about leaving a business card behind for my site, Abandoned (http://www.abandonedonline.com), but I'm afraid of a police officer or some rat to turn me in by doing a WHOIS on my site. But then again, I do offer my photos on my site "as-is" with my name on them

What you could do, is offer up the business cards as a download on your site. With a place for them to enter their handle. That way, if they get found you have a plausible alibi (as long as you don't put your handle on the cards, just leave yours blank) Cheers! -PoT
