|  | | | Just a quick question, why is it that not all of the users that are "status online" show up on the "online users" part of the home page? For example, there are 32 users with "online status" on the status bar right now, but only 9 names are coming up on the home page. I thought it might just be my computer, but INeedAttention.Com has the same problem as well. Is it supposed to be like this, and if so, is there some sort of pattern as to which user names come up on the "online users" part of the home page?

| | | | Yeah. The people listed at the bottom are actually logged in, the people listed in the sidebar are actually browsing. You can click the "xx online" part to get a more detailed listing.

| | | | On a related note, what is the purpose of listing the user's location in this area? From a privacy point of view, it shouldn't be anyone's business what section of the site I'm viewing or if I'm writing a private message, etc. Having this amount of detail is available to anyone who choses to look is a both unnecessary and annoying.

| | | | I don't think it's a privacy concern. It doesn't give away any information, like what you are writing.
It lets people see what's going on on this site -- For example, back when we got slashdotted, it let people realize that Slashdot was responsible for the user influx.

| | | | ok, i didn't take into consideration people browsing without signing in, but then why is it that when I am logged in, and INA is logged in, we don't see eachothers names on the "online users" part of the home page?
