Has anyone been there since they moved all of the stuff out? Im wondering if they tore Mt. vesovius(sp) down. I drove by the farm where they put everything and saw that they had painted everything white, I figured that was because they were going to repaint it. I was also wondering if anyone has heard what they are gonna do with the property it was on.

I went inside last fall, there was still lots of stuff left, including the mountain. I'll have to check it it out again soon. How much stuff did you see at the farm that had been taken out?

http://www.website...gia/Volunteers.htm

They don't say here how much has been removed but it sounds like a lot. I can't imagine that they'd try and move the mountain though, and there's no real reason now to tear it down, so it's probably still there.

I was there I guess two weeks ago, it was my first time there so I'm not sure what previously existed. I know they took the carousel away though.

yeah they took the carousel out a while ago, and I saw the took the boot and all those things but I was really wondering about the castle on the inside and the mountain. those are two things that they cant really move. I figure they will tear it down and put some cookie cutter houses on the land.

That castle is about to collapse anyway. I climbed to the top, there are large cracks everywhere, and the stairs were cracking under my feet. Now that I think back on it, it was a bad move to be up there. The mountain will probably be destroyed too. I hope the little things still have a chance.

It would be damn sharp to have one those gingerbread men in the front yard….

When they took the ginger bread out they broke a couple and there was one still there but it was missing a leg. I saw a bunch of people trying to take it...but its like concrete and its held in the ground by rebar(sp). Has anyone else been inside the castle that used to be the entrance? its got a bunch of stuff like blue prints for the shopping mall and stuff like that. I thought that was neat.

Where is the carousel?

I saw that crack after climbing around on that thing, and having it crumble under my feet. To go up in that castle(different from the one alcides-x is referring to), probably not a good call.

The carousal photos are two years old, I dont know were it is now

The people who own the property also own the restaurant across the street and keep and eye on the place so staying away from the front is a good idea

The carousel has been purchased by Ted Shaw, owner of Crown Food Services, Inc. He plans to restore the carousel and place it in the Baltimore Zoo.

Me and my friend went to the Enchanted Forest Back in February, it was pretty easy to get into at night because all the businesses around it are closed. I have some older pictures from a few years ago, if somebody tells me how to put em up Ill show them.

Greetings, I just went up to Enchanted Forest in the beginning of July.

Clark's Elioak Farm, just a few miles down, is trying to save as many of the pieces still left at the old site. They've recovered some, but not all. It's a big project and very costly.

You can see some of the pieces they've recovered so far at the farm. They've done a great job with restoring the pieces from the Mother Goose Ride. When I was at the farm a few weeks back, they were working on the Easter Egg.

I'm not sure if they'll ever be able to get everything that's at the old site. The Castle is just way too heavy. But they do plan on taking everything they can.

Let us hope that the effort will be successful. Enchanted Forest was one of my favorite places that I went to as a child. I'll cherish those memories forever.

Oh also, the farm will have an Enchanted Forest weekend on 8/14/05 - 8/15/05. They'll be celebrating 50 years of one of the most beloved theme park in Maryland. I hope to see you all there.

If anybody is interested in the history of the EF or the restoration effort, please let me know. I am the founder of the Enchanted Forest Preservation Society: http://www.enchantedforestmd.org/

The mountain in the lake at the back of the park is indeed still there, but it is not able to be restored due to complete disrepair. Additionally, since the closing of the park, the back portion of the lake has been designated protected wetlands - we are not sure whether the mountain is included in this section.

We are trying to save as many items as possible by bringing them to Clark's Elioak Farm. Some items had been damaged by vandals before we got to them - this includes the dish (of The Dish and the Spoon) and multiple gingerbread men. The pumpkin coach (which was fortunately donated to the farm and not successfully sold on eBay, though it was posted) has been completely restored, and the carousel is also undergoing restoration in preparation for installation at the Baltimore Zoo.

It is sad to see that the park will never be the way it was, but I am thrilled that a good amount of it will be saved and restored. It is understandable that things will be left behind, due to the sheer size, and condition.

Funny you mention vandalism to the gingerbread men. I was on the grounds when I kid showed up to try and hacksaw one down. When he spotted me approaching him, he ran off...

I have little tolerance for people like that.

How strange. There is an Enchanted Forest in Rhode Island and it is also an abandoned children's amusement park.

They're refurbishing it as I write. Just saw something about it on the news.
