Tunnel i just discoverd in the twin cities area.

Ok. so this aftertoon me and a few of my buddies were down exploring down by the riverbank in st paul. we explored a few storm drains and fucked around for a bit. after that a couple of my friends decided they wanted to tag up catwalk that ran underneith a bridge a little further upstream. we got to the bridge a couple minutes later, my friends climbed up onto the catwalk beneith the bridge. I decided not to follow them for a couple of reasons. the first one being that im not a big fan of heights and the second being that i dont do graffitti. So instead i decided to just fuck around the area below the bridge near the bluff. something cought my eye. it appeared to be a fenced off opening to an old cave, so i walked up closer to investigate. it was a concrete wall that had 2 holes in it definetley big enough to get into. but blocking both of them was a chain link fence that appeared to be securley bolted into place and a sign saying "danger no tresspassing" so i knew there had to have been something good inside. i peered through one of the holes and was somewhat dissapointed. it was a small crawlspace going back about 15 feet into a deadend brick wall (or atleast it seemed). after my friends were done tagging they came down to see what i was doing and i asked them if i could see the flashlight. i shined the light in there and was a bit exited to see that at the top of the " dead end" was a hole big enough to fit through. after some fiddiling with the fence we loosened up some of the bolts by kicking at the fence for a bit. we unscrewed the bolts and lifted up the fence enough so that my friend could get through and check it out. he went into there shined the light into the hole and said "holy shit". i crawled into there and checked it out and was amazed at what i saw. it was a perfect sandstone tunnel (obviously man made) about 7 feet tall, 4 foot wide, with a arched ceiling we went in about 100 meters and decided to come back and explore it another day. the tunnel appeared to go back a very long ways, atleast as far as my 4d maglite could shine. but the shape of the tunnel was very consistent the entire ways. anyways sorry if that was long and boring but i'm extremley curious as to what that tunnel might be or where it could lead to. but anyways my question is, have any of you local explorer,s (st paul mpls area) ever been to this tunnel or know anything about it or if it's worth exploring?

There's one way you could find that out. Go back there as soon as you can with a flashlight and a headlamp and explore the fucking shit out of those tunnels man! That's the only way to truly know. Do it now, I command thee. Take some crappy pics and then tell us all about it.

Be real careful with the tagging stuff around this forum, some people are assholes about shit. I know you said you don't do it, but some people will judge you by pure association. I personally got no beef as long as they respect historical buildings and natural caves.

I think macsbug might know about that tunnel, you should PM him with details to see if it's the same one.

Good Luck and Godspeed young man!

Hmmmmm, don't think I've done any fenced off tunnels. Sounds like fun though. East or west side of St. paul?

I'm almost positive I know which location this is. It's never any fun to ruin the surprise for new explorers, so all I'll say is don't get too excited. Have fun!

I want to be different. But I want to be different just like everybody else, because if I really were different, everybody would think I was crazy and weird.

We dug that tunnel by hand over ten years ago. We were trying to find a way into the Grainbelt Tunnels. That was some hard work, took almost 3 years to finish. Later on we discovered the sekrit entrance from the quarry. If you find the SBC logo about half way down, take a picture, I haven't seen that in forever.

I explored that tunnel last year. They used it to run something from the old tank yard to the river. There is a little side room only a few feet in. It was walled off but you can slide in under the cinder block. In the room lies an old artifact.

I have edited this post as after I read what Slim Jim said, I didn't want to give the whole thing away for any one who wants to check it out.

It's probably a sewer. All we have here are sewers. Watch out for the poop!

I can assure in this case it is not a sewer, but it never hurts to watch out for poop.

We don't have sewers in WI. I store all my poop in the basement in little jars.
