Have yall checked out fort worth sites? I've been scouting the old Spaghetti Warehouse by the stockyards. Pretty tight security at night but seems fairly easy by day. And also the Mann building downtown? You probably know that one as the Cutting Edge haunted house by the old interstate 30. Anyone interested?

I am the shadow at your side......

We need to get a group together and go to the Baker in Mineral Wells. It's been vacant for years and has lots of haunting reports.

Anybody ever scope it out?
I've been by there and it's right in the middle of the town square. There are still businesses on the ground floor, if I remember right , and there may be some vacant old storefronts that lead in.

They gave a tour in 2004 and are continually attempting to find funds to restore it.

Ive driven around it several times but didnt see any easy access. You are correct Barry there are still a couple of active businesses on the corner. Im thinking a better ground recon is in order cuz I didnt get out and walk around close and personal to the side where the pool was. It looks pretty cool and scary at night but since theres nothing around it that tall it would be possible to see someone using flashlights inside from a mile away at night. Maybe a Sunday morning proposition. Or we could wear suits and carry briefcases posing as a couple of potential investors??? ;)

Theres some other cool stuff near Mineral Wells I want to check out too. Road trip?

Like what?

I used to check out the thrift shops around there and would love to see the bat sanctuary. A lady there in Mineral Wells bought a bat infested building they were gonna fumigate and turned it in to a haven for wayward bats. She was a big help when I rehabbed a Red bat I found at Smirnoff Music Center.I went to the sanctuary a few months ago but they weren't open.Wrong day.
I dig bats.

OK couldnt wait had some time this morning so I reconned this thing. Conclusion: the Baker is definitely do-able but probably not at high noon on Sunday like it was when I was there today.

People were all over the friggin place from the church in back, the restaurants across the street there wasnt even any parking today and met some other curiosity seekers or urban explorers were there with cameras too checkin out the pool area. And cops. Saw no less than 3 cruising the block one sheriff and two pd. I parked in the church lot. Im going to put the hi res pics up on the db I'll post some <100kb shots here or my journal. This could be a fun trip for a small quiet group. Not sure what time they roll up the side walks in Mineral Wells.

(btw others have been inside recently saw some vandalism and recent broken glass, half-assed efforts made to board it up).

I doubt this grand old place will ever be reopened, the exterior is deteriorated and crumbling to the point of being fubar. Inside looks much nicer. Haunted? I dont believe in ghosts but if any place would have ghosts this place would.

What floor was the window broken on? If it was on a low floor then somebody might have just thrown something through the window, and it could also make for easy access if it is on the first floor. Also, if you guy's head down there I would like to go along, I would need a ride though.
