| | | I tested it out and noticed that it will let me make repeated recommendations. Perhaps a few checks should be coded in so that the original recommender can't make comments, and also so that once a user has left a comment, they can't repeat the process. Perhaps it's also better the way it is. What if the original contributor has something more to add after submitting the recommendation? What if a comment-leaver has a different thing to say or add as a second thought? Food for thought/discussion. Overall, this system will be beneficial by giving the mods more information to work with when reviewing recommendations of people that the mods know very little about.

No. This is because nobody has yet recommended you. If you are recommended by someone, you will receive a PM. When we enter Phase C, you will be able to request Level 3 Status without a recommendation.

| | | I'm confused by this slightly. What was incorrect / unclear about the original nominations of the people on the list? For instance, I nominated Maze... Now I see her on this list ? Why ? When an identical nomination of someone ELSE I have met and explored with was accepted instantly and without question ? /Using Maze purely as an example here. Or is this just simply because there are not enough mods to go around this process? Chris...

Since the request was directed at a specific mod, I would think it is waiting for that mod to look at the request. As well, the various mods are on at various times, it's not like it's a paying job, so sometimes requests will take longer than some users may prefer, but that's just how it goes... Most likely if the preferred mod does not make a move within a few days, another mod will take the request... and just for reference, assinine remarks in the recommend box won't speed anything up for anyone...

| | | If you still see someone on the list, it could mean that the request hasn't been looked at yet, or that there is an internal mod discussion about the person's recommendation. It isn't necessarily a bad thing - it could come right down to one mod leaving the recommendation for another mod who may know more about that particular user. Some have listed "favoured mods", which means that the recommendation may be left for that mod to log in and take care of it. If the favoured mod doesn't log in for a while, that request could sit there for a while. C.

| | | Right, I figured that but wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up guys! With 'respect to asinine remarks' I'll hold the trusted recommendations with the same high regard as I hold the trusted system in it's entirety*. My reasons for trusting someone might vary from yours, or seem asinine but they are valid none the less, otherwise, there is really f--k all point in ASKING for anyone to recommend anyone else is there ? My reasons for trusting someone might be far removed from yours. Chris...

| | | The assinine remark had nothing to do with your reasons for trusting someone, it had to do with your subtle bitching and whining that the request had not been fulfilled yet. So you're saying you don't put any regard in a recommendation ? Then how are we supposed to take any recommendation you make as legitimate ?

How are you supposed to take ANY recommendation from ANYONE as legitimate is a more pertinent question, would you not think ? Or do we need an additional 'trustworthyness trustworthy test as a pre-requisite of being 'trustworthy'? Should people be liked personally by you first, as a pre-caution ? Do I explore ? Well ? Contribute ? Well ? So am I trustworthy ? No ? Yes? See, there is no answer - the whole falls down and makes no sense. AAAAAaaannnnnnddddd......... Which subtle bitching and whining are you referring to Jest. ? The only person I see whining is you, not subtly though; in a more direct and annoying way ? I put forward a couple of people - and one got accepted straight away... One didn't. I don't know why... And I don't much care! If you look carefully, I have only made I think... Four recommendations in total ? I don't care enough to nominate anyone else, they can wait for Phase 3. Oh and conversely, no one else cares enough to ASK me to nominate them either. Who to trust ? Chris...

| | | Ya know, with all the changes around here I think it needs to be said... I don't feel any more secure, but I do see a lot more fights between a lot of people I respect going on because of it. I'm not talking about people whining because they haven't been chosen yet, I'm talking about mods and long time users getting into it over what trust means or how the process works. I hope it's worth it in the long run, because I have a hard time watching someone like Jester, whom I respect argue with Turbozutek, whom I also respect. Used to be arguments went on between someone I respected and some idiot who didn't know what he was talking about. Now I see this kind of behavior and want to weigh in on a respected community members behalf but worry about how that might affect my ability to maintain my level 3 status, or have my requests for other users access be implemented. Seems like I find myself watching what I say because there is a mod involved because now there's more at stake than just getting a post deleted or a temp ban. On the other hand I don't really want to side with the mods because then the non mods would think I'm sucking up, again, in an attempt to protect or solidify my access. Sorry, I feel like Maude Flanders.... "WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!" I feel like I'm in the middle here, I have NOTHING against any of the mods, but I know their patience is getting worn thin by people whining and complaining about the change. I have nothing against the other users, but some of them have valid points about how "fair" the system may or may not be. All in all, I'm glad I'm a level 3 member and not a mod OR a L2 user. I have it pretty good but I hate to see the conflict in our community.

| | | Now look what we have done!!! We are upsetting ChainSaw! A few facts: 1. I don't think much of the new trusted system. Nothing personal, I just think it's not going to work, technically. Too much ambiguity around definition of terms. 2. I'm level three trusted, and was early on. I was marked by a Mod that surprised the shit out of me for doing it too! 3. My question about clearing up the point of this thread was answered long ago. 4. I no longer see the need to post to this thread and possibly take it way off topic, as my question was answered... In a professional way by CrossFire. If we want to continue the war, let's take it to the flame war forum!! Chris...

| | | The point was, comments like that in the recommendations aren't going to help and certainly aren't about to make any mod feel that they need to move any faster on the request. We'd like to think that if someone is going to give a recommendation, they actually feel the person they are recommending is trustworthy and realizes that if it is taken seriously and not thrown about whilly nilly, that the people in level 3 will in fact be trustworthy people. And despite your lovely view of the trusted system, Turbo, I have seen a fair amount of thought and deliberation put into the recommendations coming in from other members.
It requires wisdom to understand wisdom: the music is nothing if the audience is deaf. |
