This weekend involved a live infiltration (kind of rare for me) and a rural exploration. Fortunately I've found a reliable UE partner who lives nearby, he's "Spartacus" in the mission reports.

The infiltration happened at the local Transportation and Industry Museum open house, even with a bunch of rabid railfans and tourists milling around we managed to sneak into the old train engines and a few of the airplanes. We found that a lot of the old rail cars were being used for overflow storage, so while there wasn't much of the original interiors left there were a lot of neat artifacts to look at. After that we drove down to the third Nike base near Anchorage, we've now been to all of them. Paintballers chased us out of the IFC building so we only got to see the launch bunkers and some abandoned cars that lurked all through the woods and had made their way into the tunnels.

Despite my usual tendency to explore over weekends, last night I biked downtown at 1am to check out some scrapped locomotives and then decided to do an abandoned building while I was there. There's still too much light in the sky up here, damn solstice and midnight sun . But I was able to look around both places without getting caught. The trains weren't really worth it but I'll add those pics to my Alaska Railroad page, this page has the building photos: http://www.gnometoys.com/~freak/mckay/
