| | | | | Have you ever stayed the night @ a UE location? < on 9/1/2004 7:00 PM >
| | | First let me say this doesnt count if your a bum. Personally I think it would be awesome to spend the night in a abandoned asylum, prison, hospital, school, or cave system barring the fact that you know you will not get caught, run into any vagrants, and the air is safe(pertains to cave/tunnel air and asbestos) just wondering if anyones done this, and where/what was it.

ha, you mean exploring until the wee hours in the morning? Ive done that many times to the wifes dismay, but thats not what I mean I mean has anyone actually shacked up in a UE location with sleeping bags, possibly food/water, and other camping stuff and actually stayed the night or a couple nights?

| | | Not inside, but I've camped at the yard of a few abandoned factories in the countryside. Truthfully, I didn't sleep very tight. And when I did, I dreamt of working like hell, planing timber, carrying planks from a place to another, or just walking around at brick works, waking up every 40 minutes. Not necessarily pleasant, but yet very experienceful nights. But the main reason was saving money, since it was completely free accommodation. If I come across a suitable place, I'll try it again.

| | | I have, but it was long before i was involved in any sort of UE or anything. it was after a field party one nite. they were building some houses in a new area of the city, so me and a couple other merry party go-ers went and "squawted" in one of the houses construction. nice place too. The funniest part is, shortly after the house was completed, I had the opprotunity to visit it on many occasions as a friend of mine's parents were the ones that owned it. I helped them move in and everything. They still live in the house, and its been 4 years since the incident. What would have been ironic is if their daughter stayed the nite with us there. she left the party with a couple other people, but she WAS going to come with us. She knows about the whole thing, but her parents still are oblivious to their uknown house guests.
edit: I would not however mind camping out at an abandoned mine system, provided their is an acurate amount of air circulation. [last edit 9/2/2004 9:27 AM by Yaweh Qanna - edited 1 times]

| | | Twice now we've sleptout atop a disused powerstation. We hauled in sleepingbags, bed rolls and of course munchie food. One guy even brought a folding chair to sleep in. Creeping around the PS was good at night, always on edge, peeking around the corner. Dawn was the best part, we had clear skies and great views. After packing up we explored the powerstation with light, seeing all the little details we'd missed the night before. Urbex sleepouts rule! dawn:

Wow, beautiful pic. It would almost be worth the paranoia of sleeping on top of an old power station to nab this image! -- Mat

| | | I've explored places into the small hours of the morning but never camped there. A problem I would have though is that many of my favorite places have asbestos and I don't think sleeping with a filter on would be very comfortable.
Buildings have two natural enemies- water, and bears. |
