A trip to the Reformatory

While the abandoned buildings are surrounded by active buildings, access to some buildings is remarkably easy and obvious. Parts of floors and ceilings were collapsing, and we were prevented from exploring a third floor due to collapsed floor sections.

Collapsed floor is "replaced" by a pile of stuff.

Ceilings weren't in great shape either.

A view of the second floor...

...and the reason we didn't explore the third.

The second floor also contained this rather incongruous adding machine.

An unused medical record.

The second building we explored was more promising structurally.

The first-floor hallway contained the remains of an old telephone.

These windows were all broken, providing an invigorating breeze.

There was also an old fridge.

Upon reaching the second floor, one reaches the legendary File Drawer Mountain.

As well as some less-reassuring sights.

The basement contained some old bedframes.

And the obligatory "Chairs" shot.

That's an interesting telephone. I think it may have been an intercom of some type, not a phone, since there's no circuitry for dialing. Too bad it's smashed to hell.

Colours, LINKS, images, etc are not allowed, text and LINKS only. Emphasis mine.

Phones way back in the day didn't dial, you were connected to an operator at the CO and connected.

Though there is nothing super secret about this place at all, you should not really put the name of the place in the title for future reference.
Something you should have already known from being a member here for almost two years.

Yeah, they don't like you to name anything. If you continue to do so you may get a scathing internet scolding from a stranger and maybe one less person will type "Cool pic!" under your latest post.

"Are you happy now with all the choices you've made?" "Are there times in life when you know you should've stayed?"
"Will you compromise and then realize the price is too much to pay?" "Winners and losers... which one will you be today?"

That's true, but the upper right corner of the chassis appears to read "tested 1959" which was well into the automatic dialing era.

hahahaha

By the way OP, just go to the first floor and walk to the other side of the building.....and from there it will lead to the safe set of stairs that lead to the top floor.
Smart move on not jumping the questionable hole on the second floor to get to the other side.
ALWAYS better safe than sorry.

Just send me a message if you need any help on this place in the future. I'm quite familiar with it.

We were there on this weekend as well, what's with the douche in the white security car? Just drives around and doesn't say anything.
Unfortunately his presence was enough to stop us after the first building, which was probably what he was going for, but it still pissed me off.

What are you talking about? This set is from the same trip as the one I went on and I titled my own thread something way more revealing than this one. Hell, the word "reformatory" wasn't used after the early 1900s.

I absolutely can't stand the snide "you should have known this" part of your post. What did you aim to accomplish?

No thats a phone. The dial must have been ripped off along with half the other stuff. However, As another person said, it could be old enough to be one of the first types of phones which connected directly to the operator

I don't know, we totally disregarded him. He sat in the parking lot in front of the first building on his phone and we walked right by him to the snowy path into the woods. He didn't move once the entire time we were there
