thousands of computer monitors, 1940's report cards, and lonely chairs

One of the best days I've had in a while, these are just two locations... Didn't feel like waiting to look through all the locations.

Location #1:
Corner stone says 1902, documentation says the school was built in 1908. It was in use until the 1980's. It was apparently used as a church for a while after that, and has sat empty and wasting away ever since. The school holds boxes and shelves with student records from the 1940's and 50's... It's a shame such things aren't being preserved. The school features and an auditorium in the form of a jewel box theatre with a raked floor, proscenium stage, and horseshoe balcony. And I have seen pictures from before the seats were ripped out and it was gorgeous! An odd skinny gym which is lit by skylights, and is a structure which shows how thriving this neighborhood would have been at the turn of the century. Now it sits boarded, it's beautiful auditorium stripped of its seats, and fits perfectly in the current run down neighborhood.

Location #2:
This was a school, community center, and a municipal complex. I haven't been able to find much information on this location yet. But the auditorium/stage was a concrete structure that looks like it was built to survive the apocalypse and features a true projector room like you might find in a tradition movie house/theater. The stage is also built as if it was capable of legit theatre productions. And it wasn't very photogenic so I didn't get a whole lot of pics in there. BUT it was a very cool building! This location was very cool to photograph as the sun was hanging low in the sky.

Thanks so much, it was a fun day... And I had fun looking at the city (the last shot) from the mountain top after sunset

OMG OMG OMG. These two locations are very special to me. I am pretty surprised you got into yellow house, the first school was my first ever "real explore" It's real sad to hear its on the chopping block although I know the area pretty well and the one trip was enough for me, there was definitely some fishy activity going on in there and I definitely didn't want to get caught with my pants down.... But I know what it took to get into those places, so on behalf of the dojo we commend you!

For not being very photogenic, it posed very well for you.

Well that was an unexpected response haha Glad you enjoyed my post so much. It's always fun to see someplace that means something, or holds a special place in your exploring heart... Glad I could do that for you

Oh parts of it were, just the auditorium/stage/theatre thing was hard to capture. It's a great building, very imposing and even an "odd" presence when viewed from the outside!

You caught the theater very well, wish we could have seen it on our last visit. And #6, the tree in the class room is making me envious, I want that shot!
