| | | Last remnants of a coal mining town < on 1/22/2014 8:18 AM >
| | | For some reason I can't get photos to upload here, otherwise I'd have a thread in that forum as well. But... A small town outside of Denver that used to be a major coal mining town founded in 1903. At its height, it included a company store, school, saloon and Presbyterian chapel. Though a few of these buildings still stand in the current town, many small ruins and foundations of the mine and original town lie scattered around the area. A mining accident in 1910 claimed 10 lives, and a workers strike a few years later began the end for the town. It is now a small subdivision with a great history behind it. There are a few small abandoned buildings throughout the area, but a housing development is going up and many have been knocked down. Here is the video of my exploration there today. http://www.youtube...0&feature=youtu.be As always, feel free to comment and critique! Happy 2014 and happy exploring! -Daniel-
