What replaced your favorite sites?

Typically when a site gets demolished I don't pay much attention to it anymore, but this one got my attention since it was such big news.

Anyone else got stories of sites being replaced by much less interesting things or are you like me and do you just stop visiting them once their gone?

My favorite site, a state-owned insane asylum has been partially replaced by a retirement community that was supposed to have been completed over half a decade ago. There's still more mud and debris than housing there.

Ouch, we've got an asylum here that they turned into a haunted house type attraction for Halloween. I've heard it's a decent place to go in October but I'd still rather just have the abandoned asylum.

What replaced the Whitby Psych? The DB entry is still either #1 or 2 in the DB in terms of number of photos uploaded.

Condos. Always more damned condos.

I’m quite positive that you’ve slept with someone uglier than me, and I’m sure I’ve slept with someone hotter than you. So let’s just call it a draw.

The first site I explored is now a doctor's office/bank/restaurant/another restaurant/parking lot.

Can't say the space wasn't useful...

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Is it me, or does it seem like a lot of hospitals/care facilities become retirement communities or are purchased and zoned to become retirement communities? The most messed up, jacked up places........Developers be like "This would be perfect for all the senior citizens" or, "Nah, this place doesn't have a violent enough history to become a retirement community. Let's put some lofts there instead" ;)

Greetings, everyone.
Am I the only one that isn't mad when a site gets demolished? Part of UE is dwelling in the history and beauty of what is no longer in use, and/or forgotten. Having said that, the building is NOT in use for what it was originally designed for... therefore, it "must be demolished" Nothing lasts forever, that is why WE as explorers must take advantage of abandonments upon being found and explore the inside, share it with others that would appreciate the beauty in decay, and take photographs so that those who cannot make it inside can also enjoy the discovery some day. The photography is what makes the buildings immortal and forever remembered by those who cared enough to have loved the [insert your UE passion here] of it.

A really cool, somewhat local old stone building I explored 3 years ago (which we found by accident) has been fixed up and turned into a gorgeous restaurant/pub that we again, found by accident. And then accidentally ate lots of delicious food.

Dirt and a partial concrete slab is all that still remains of a once great explore and continuous party spot for me and my fellow wanna be punks in our youth. The slaughterhouse. It was packed to the gills with artifacts and occasionally shady characters. Fathers (like me) would cringe to know that their daughters had been here and .... well enough of that. Ah memories!

Fucking apartments. Fuck that shit. I'd prefer a dirt lot and a pile of debris over that shit any day.
