Hey guys, my second post is the Phoenix Trotting Park. Im sure many of you are aware of its history but as a quick overview: the proposition for a luxury horse racing experience in the west was made real in the 50's. It took years to construct and went 3 times over the $3M budget and had to close down within 2 years because they couldn't attract crowds, partially due to the insurmountable heat in the Arizona desert making it impossible to exist for horses and people alike, partially due to the fact that no modern roads were built at that point which would allow easy access to the track. The modern architectural ideal to provide it's visitors with all the conveniences of daily life met it's match in environment of the desert but it's failure remains a monument of the desire to control nature.

Unfortunately I never got inside as my friend and I were spotted by a maintenance duo who were blocking up entryways that had been deconstructed by other explorers no doubt. The kind man swore at me until I accepted his invitation to leave. I'd love to get inside my next time I'm in the area despite intel recognizing the piles of bird excrement that now occupy it's interior.

Nice pics. Don't they shoot a lot of casino footage here? Some of the remake of Ocean's Eleven was shot here if I'm not mistaken.

ok, its done. I am taking a vaca out that way. I need to visit Sharky and Cathy soon.. plus meet the new pup and do some shooting.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

Love the first wide shot.

My buddy that I often explore with is originally from Phoenix and said he filmed a short film there over many nights there in high school. On the last day, he said five squad cars came and escorted him out. Unfortunately, he won't show me the movie since it was never finished.
