Dixie Square Mall archive footage

Dixie Square Mall was located in the south suburbs of Chicago, and is the original "dead mall" that was made famous in its cinematic destruction for the 1980 cult-favorite: The Blues Brothers. It was an 800,000 square foot cesspool of 70s funk and retail history that I couldn't get enough of...

This is raw footage - YouTube says at least five hours worth - from all 13 visits I made there in its final years: from 2009 to 2012, when it was finally demolished only through the state tapping into Hurricane Ike disaster relief funding.

Enjoy! (Don't mind the frequent, sleep-deprived teenage ramblings and narrations.)
