A Postal Wonderland

Sometimes I wonder how I managed to survive this long; a little thing called "winter Storm Ion" didn't stop myself and a friend from taking a little trip out to Gary last weekend. I've always wanted to do an explore in a good snow but figured it should be some place I knew fairly well. Well after leaving our front bumper on the toll road and getting an airbag in the face we finally arrived and waded through the 2.5 foot deep drift at the entrance. Were it not for the car accident I'd say this rather short trip was worth it but my banged up knee and the pending auto repair bill for my friend's car kinda kills the joy a tad. Either way, I hope you enjoy.

SWEET!

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

I'll say! It's tough to take a really good photo in this place, but it looks like you managed. Well done.

I love that last shot! The snow drifting in really adds to the feel of the site.

I've seen that Post Office many times, but you get credit for capturing the snow without footprints all over it. Bravo!

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Eschaton- I've been trying to get a good shot here for years so I know what you mean! It seems all I needed was a blizzard.

Ken- On the way out you couldn't even tell we had pushed through a huge drift to get in, the wind had filled everything in and smoothed it back out. Inside it wasn't so bad, but so far as I could there was only one other group crazy enough to come out in this weather, I saw their tracks at the church. I've been wanting to get snow shots of any building in this city for years, I figured while it was falling was the best time to try.

Great set. Love how the place looks with all the snow.

9 and 11 are gorgeous shots. I'd love to check that place out some time.
