---------------------------------------------------
my friend: What are you doing for New Years Eve
me: watching fireworks on the roof @ abandoned high rise.
my friend: dude you should come over to The Shelter, we are getting crazy over here.
Me: Bro, I'm literally on the roof of an abandoned building, I ain't walkin down all those stairs right now.
My friend: Shit, I thought that abandoned high rise was like some new club... You're crazy you know that right?
----------------------------------------------------

Crazy? Nope, this was quite possibly my best New Years Eve to date. Nothing like watching hundreds of explosions scattered across the horizon. A whole building (minus the homeless people) to yourself, and no neighbors to call the cops if you get too loud. That and there is nothing like sharing that view with people who understand how awesome this experience is. And while I wasn't successful in capturing the explosive horizon, I still had fun and enjoyed snapping a few shots here and there.

Opened in 1971. Closed in 2002. It had security until about a year ago. This place is getting demoed at some point this year.

It's about three or four years old. The tape grip is two and a half or so. An addition from Neverland. Haven't had to change out the bulb yet, only changed the batteries twice.

Good shots Amish, nothing of mine turned out worth anything from that night. Guess I just wasn't focused. Two weeks of flu, dehydration, bronchitis, acute ear infection just left me feeling less than the party mood. Even still it was worth it to see the fireworks show and the ATL skyline and especially be with the folks I love most. When that Goodyear blimp came over us it was close enough to touch, wish I had shots of that one. What a night, Good times!

I usually hold my tongue... And I swear I'm not trying to be a dick, but you don't need to show everyone you "know everything". He was asking how old Bennets flashlight was, not the location. Not to mention, I was told over 7 months ago, probably by the same person who told you this, that the building was getting torn down this year (2013)... It's still standing, just like Gordon was still standing 6 months after you said it was going to be demolished within the month. I appreciate you being supportive of others, their posts, explores, photos, but sometimes you are a little much.

Hope you have a great 2014.

Thanks bro, wish you wouldn't have been feeling so crappy! And yeah, that Blimp was crazy cool when it went right over us!! We'll have to do it again next year, maybe we can find somewhere even better

Amishdelight, sick pictures of the skyline and of the ice-roof improv comedy. I really wish I could've gotten a good picture of that blimp. That rocked.

Well, going through my images of that night I think there were a few of interest. The rest turned out as shit. Now its time to scheme for 2014!
