A Dead Neighborhood

This wasn't the most exciting explore ever but we had a good time. Until freezing rain happened and we called an early end to the trip. Not sure why this neighborhood is so dead but flooding is suspected, perhaps 1 house in 5 is occupied, and those left standing are generally burned out.

Since the neighborhood didn't offer too much and we'd gotten chased off one spot we decided to head towards Gary to see if we could find anything we hadn't already seen.

#5 would seem odd at one time. but now... not so much.

good stuff.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

When do you think this location was first occupied?

cdevon- I hear you, it seems weird that something so peculiar seems so normal.

Dalmaticus- Do you mean the neighborhood? It is really hard to tell since pretty much all the wood framed buildings have collapsed and the cinderblock buildings are pretty much 3 to 4 walls of crumbling cinderblocks. Going on the still occupied homes in the area I'd wager most of the buildings were from the 1960 to 1970 era. There isn't anything fancy, most everything is just a box with little to no personality. It is located right next to a federal flood control area, and the road to the east was blocked off and closed sometime in the past few years as part of the flood control area, on the other side of the roadblock the abandoned road is still in pretty good shape so you can tell it happened recently.
