Kinda looks like coathooks, but I guess at one point it was part of a piano. Makes you wonder what in the hell happened to it though.

This is called the action of the piano. It is lifted easily out of the cabinet to allow for work to be done, i.e. hammers, felts, wippens, etc.
It was probably taken out to have something fixed, or something happened to the cabinet so the action was rescued, or vice versa.
Obviously, something went wrong with this piece, but it made for a cool picture.
