New from Minneapolis

Hey guys. grayfield from Minneapolis here. I'm new to the forums and wanted to introduce myself.

I've been getting more and more interested in UE over the past few years and have grown especially fond of abandoned industrial buildings (factories, breweries, mills, etc.) I've found Minnesota to be a great place for that.

I always have my camera with me. And since I take a lot of road trips, I've been fortunate enough to explore in different parts of the country.

My top 3 urbex experiences so far:

1. Falstaff (Galveston, TX)
2. Crosley (Cincinnati, OH)
3. Hamm's (St. Paul, MN)

I'd love to connect with other responsible UE'ers who are also interested in photography. I find myself not exploring very much because I don't have the right people to head out with.

Welcome to the forum! There's actually decent group of people in your area. Put up a few threads of pic's youve done. But remember rule #1 is dont name locations. That will get some unwanted attention for sure.

If Crosley is one of your Top 3, we gotta show you some more Cincy.

I agree. Although i never actually made it inside, judging by how it appeared on the outside, Crosley seemed like it could be relatively interesting. Although that may be, i've seen a few sets from inside, and i do have to say, Cincy has far superior gems.

Also, Hamm's is awesome! Crossed "Drink a Hamm's in the original Hamm's" off my bucket list last year.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. Happy to be here. Will let you know when I post some of those shots.

@budda @relik About Crosley, I was only in town for one night and just stumbled on it. I didn't set out to explore that day and the fact that I found it, could get in, and didn't run into any squaters inside made it a huge success (for me anyway). Would love to have you guys show me around if I ever make it back that way.

Please don't post any pictures of what you find in MSP. It would be greatly appreciated. If you want to see what will happen if you do, just read more into the great lakes section.

I didn't get to see that couch. My life has no meaning now.
But, let's not derail this thread.

O.P. (original poster)- feel free to share what ever material you wish with the fine folks of the Minneapolis / St. Paul area that represents themselves here in the Great Lakes area of UER.

Welcome OP. MSP has a flourishing community of explorers that I'm sure you'll get along with just well if you've got a positive attitude. You seem well mannered and you have a good attitude, which I'm sure will take you plenty far with this group. I started out living in Milwaukee, and I too found out how good the exploring in MSP was and moved there for a while because of it.

First off, I would suggest you read this writeup I made a few years ago specifically dealing with issues in MSP. This will cover a lot of the basics with how the community operates an has been well received by all the locals.

http://www.scribd....oundation-Concepts

Secondly, I will say you should listen to what the MSP locals have to say about MSP exploring locations/issues/online ethics, because MSP is a very unique situation for explorers. The better your attitude, the more people will invite you out, the more you will learn why we do the things we do, and the more great places you'll get to see.

I will also say to SPECIFICALLY not listen to anything cdevon says. He is an internet troll and lives in his mom's basement and has a small penis and wants to cause trouble because he doesn't have as many exploring friends and is butthurt about it. He's already looking to cause trouble in this thread. Just ignore him.

If you want to protect the locations you love to explore, don't talk about them online in public!
If you want to make exploring friends, send people private messages! Meet up in real life! Get off the internet!
Don't try to have a UER e-penis! You won't impress anyone! This especially means you, Minneapolis MN newbies!

I've personally seen some of the things Shotgun Mario has done to support exploring efforts. I'd wager he does more in a month than you've done in your entire life.

Also, I know for a fact he doesn't live in his mom's basement.

Post whatever you like, explore whatever you like. It's your life and you don't have to conform to anybody elses rules but your own.

But it was mentioned before - please don't share location names (or photos with anything that would give away the location) because it puts them at higher risk of vandalism.

Read the forum rules to be more aware of the guidelines put on the forum. But that's all you have to worry about!
