When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

A similar article on Huffington Post made me come back here after I've been away for a while.
Glad to see the community is still active.
Sad to see someone seeming to have talent trying to make "urbex" be "place hacking", though maybe that name does fit better with the community ethos...

"'Place Hackers' are part of a new global movement with active groups from the UK to Australia and the US."

Anyone that uses the term 'place hacking' is an idiot. This movement is not new nor is it hacking. I'd expect this sort of reporting from AOL but not Yahoo.

Jeez, it's like the article and the interviewee can't agree from one sentence to the next what to call it.

'Place Hackers' are part of a new global movement with active groups from the UK to Australia and the US. These urban explorers find adventure, adrenaline and often danger in places that most people would not dare to enter, and involves sneaking into former military bases, underground cities, decommissioned hospitals and power stations and even the odd skyscraper – while it’s still being built. 'The idea behind urban exploration is revealing what’s hidden in the world.” says Bradley Garrett and Oxford University academic and place hacker. 'It’s about going into places that are essentially off-limits and, because they are off limits, have been relatively forgotten. The goal of the urban explorer is not just to explore these places but also to photograph them and share these with others so they can see what they’re like.' Place hackers, like nature explorers, tend to value a low-impact credo: no vandalism or theft, take only photographs, leave only footprints. (Bradley Garrett/eyevine/zReportage.com via ZUMA Press)

Also, there are enough mistakes in this I wonder if it isn't from one of those self-submitted "news" websites and this guy isn't just interviewing himself.

Maybe.... it's all a big scheme contrived by Greg Brick!

"Hacking" was one of the original words used for exploring steam tunnels for fun.

Just be glad they aren't using "vadding."

mutantMandias may cause dizziness, sexual nightmares, and sleep crime. ++++ mutantMandias has to return some videotapes ++++ Do not taunt mutantMandias

mutantMandias is something more than human, more than a computer. mutantMandias is a murderously intelligent, sensually self-programmed, non-being

Are you kidding? You might as well just stick to TMZ if you're getting your "news" from Yahoo.

HACK THE GIBSONNNNN!!!

Oh god, the nostalgia... That movie...

I do agree, "Place Hacking" seems to be a title unfitting, but grabs people's attention. And at the end of the photo reel, the "I'm a photographer, not a terrorist" shirt, I like that. Anyone know where to grab one?

The vast majority, if not all, are his. He's a great photographer; I explored with him once. He's even registered here.
