Juneau County WI

Anyone in or around the area? Or know of some good places to explore in and around the area? Would like to get together and go exploring sometime. I did go out driving around not too long ago looking for any abandoned farm houses or things of the sorts, but not much luck. Would love to find an abandoned fallout shelter or something underground as well. Or anything.

I've never explored down that way. Good luck! Let me know if you find anything good!

Not much abandoned I know of there.

There are some ancient petroglyphs including a thunderbird near the Dells, but not in Columbia County, so they're probably in Juneau County.

I took a look around on Google Maps & Bing out of curiosity, and I sure didn't see much. I saw one conspicuously abandoned building at Main & Omaha in Hustler on Google street view, but according to Bing satellite view it is now a dirt lot. http://goo.gl/maps/iZus3

Overall you seem to live in a corner of the world with healthy downtowns where old buildings are reused rather than abandoned. My condolences.

Ya, it sucks here. Although I did just buy a used vehicle. Want to get a couple things taken care with it (new tires etc) then I might make a trip to Madison or Appleton or somewhere in between. I did read about the abandoned mansion. Looks like it would be a fantastic explore. Certainly not like St Louis when I lived there. A lot more to do and explore.

I just went out to the abandoned mansion this past weekend. It's a pretty neat spot, and there's even a tunnel in the basement...

There is pretty much nothing from the top of Juneau County until you get down to the dells. 5 years ago the dells was loaded with cool stuff to check out but this has changed. Most of the abandoned waterparks, hotels, resorts, amusement parks, etc. have been bought up and are either already operating again or demolished. Depending on your interests, there is a somewhat large spot about 10 miles to the west of the dells that may be worth the drive to poke around at. Wasn't all that exciting to me, but may be for you. Feel free to IM me if you want some tips finding it.

Not sure what mansion you're referring to. Is it this one?

I wish I would've been exploring when those things were still around. Out in the country even in the fox cities area there are a lot of semi demolished houses, and barns. They are kind of cool to peak in, but nothing serious. The picture of the mansion Relux posted is one my favorite spots of all time. I hope you get the opportunity to see that.

Might be a good location for a sundown shot. I'd like to get some shots without the snow too.
