Ok, I don't usually post pictures of locations since I don't like to share with people I don't know (or don't trust), but this particular building is now gone so I am no longer worried that some aspiring urban explorers will reveal the exact coordinates along with the points of entry on the public forum.

Sokolovic is the one who discovered that building so the credit goes to him. Now that I created this post, I am sure he will eventually decide to upload his pictures. He also wrote a nice story about our ''adventure'' to the Eastview Lodge, but I wouldn't publish it here without his permission.

R426 and I scouted the location once, but we didn't get in. We knew how though. As it turned out, Sokolovic and I got in through an unlocked window on the ground floor...in plain view of the neighbours! So, the first time we explored the building was at night; we couldn't really use our flashlights since there wasn't a single boarded up window and we were in a residential area. Then, we went back during the day to document the place from top to bottom.

As I said, the building is now gone. It's been demolished in May this year. There are many articles available on the internet about the Eastview Lodge and the reasons why the town of Neepawa decided to tear it down. Here's one of them:

I did write a short blog entry about the Eastview Lodge on my old website; I might post it here in the near future.

Here are a few pictures (from November 2012) of the former personal care home that used to stand on the hill north of highway 16 in Neepawa, MB:

As you can see, the building is in pristine condition. Except for a few spots where the paint had started to peel off, there was very little decay (too little decay to my liking actually.) The air quality was so good that we didn't bother wearing our masks.

I always take a few exterior shots of abandoned buildings even though I know very well that I may never be able to show them to anyone other than the people I explore with...which is unfortunate. So, for those who like to know what a building looks like from outside or for those who might have simply driven past it without noticing it was abandoned, here are a few exterior shots:

Glad you could get in and took some nice pics. Never was able to get into it back when I still lived in Manitoba.

Yeah...We knew it was slated for demolition so we couldn't really afford to wait until it was too late.

As you already know, there aren't many buildings of this size in the Prairies so we cherish the few ones we have...

I just remembered I had this picture of a poem that was pinned to a wall...

I found it in what appeared to be some kind of break room for the attendants.

Nothing makes me happier (and sad at the same time)than finding those tiny bits of evidence from the past...It's not very old considering the building was abandoned in 2009 and torn down in 2013, but still, one cannot help thinking about all those elderly persons who used to call that place home...Now it's just a pile of rubble.

I am also looking forward to exploring with you guys again! I have so many good memories from our weekend in June! Let's hope we can explore together before winter sets in.

So beautiful! Much nicer than the only one I've found so far in Ontario.
