The south side silo story

After years of exploring I have a lot of stories about the things we run into while exploring. one that still sticks out is the first time that myself, squish-e, shanerrrr and Jason hit up a silo on the south side of town.
It was pretty easy to get into the location. We pretty much walked right in. As we started to explore it, one of the first things that we noticed was horrible stench that was coming from the bottom couple floors. after checking out a few floors and chocking on the smell we ended up in the basement when we found a strange little room leading into conveyer belt tunnels . it had its own light set up {not on} and was full of VHS tapes of porn. the covers of the tapes seemed to be arranged in a "easy viewing" type of way and we didn't really want to touch anything in the room . so not wanting to mess with someone "viewing room" we continued on our way down into the conveyer belt tunnels. As we got to the end of the tunnels we started to hear voices. we didn't think to much of it until we realized that the voices where coming from the end of the tunnel in the "viewing room". not only had someone come home but they had brought some friends with him. We sat in the dark for a few minuets listening to what they where talking about. I don't exactly remember what they where talking about but I do remember that it was bad enough to whip all 4 of us into a panic. We really didn't want to run into the people in the viewing room so we started to look for a different way out of the tunnels. After looking for a few minuets we found a gate over a small window that seemed like it could be knocked out if we had something to hit it with. We ended up finding a large log under one of the conveyer belts and started to use it as a battering ram on the gate over the window. We hit the gate over and over again but couldn't get the gate off. We got it to bend but couldn't make a hole big enough for us to get out. after what seemed like forever we gave up and realized that we would have to go the way we came. We all grabbed something that we could defend ourselves with and headed back up the tunnel. We where all nervous as we got up to the viewing room but as we finally made it back to the room to find out that it was empty. Feeling super relived we hurried out of the location and back to our car. After we claimed down and talked about it we figured that we had made so much noise trying to get the gate off that it chased off the people from the viewing room.

a couple shots from the first trip-

3 or 4 years later {this summer} I had some friends come up from the south to explore some of the locations in my area. after a few locations we found ourselves by the silo's and decided to check it out. this time was pretty uneventful. the place still smelled horrible but the viewing room, light and porn where cleaned out. Bums have actually changed the viewing room into a giant toilet and it seemed like no one had been there for quite a while.

1. inside the silo

2. silo #2

3. stairs leading to the top

4. one of the tunnels

5. the log right where we left it, years ago.

not much happens on this part of the forum anymore so I thought I would share. thanks for looking !

Great story man! The first thing I thought when you said you started trying to ram the window was that the people in the other room were probably scared as much as you were! Also, I bet that the stench was coming from the remaining decaying grain. That stuff can smell terrible.

you never told me about that one man! silos can be pretty boring overall but the view from the top of these, at night especially, is super cool.
good story man - one of these days we should have a BBQ on top!!

thanks man!
I'm sure your right, especially since it smelled the same both times. It was just a hell of a lot worse then the other ones I've been to.

I love these kind of stories ! We all have a few. I've been jammed up at a spot before while rolling solo and actually asked the people what they were doing there and that they needed to leave. It actually worked. Hahaha ! The log ram is next level
