Does anyone see a problem with the fact that threads in the forums can be read by non members? Doesn't this open the forum to anyone? Am I the only one who sees this as a problem?

It's not a problem. Since anyone can become a member, locking the forum to members only would achieve nothing.

Use your own discretion when posting on here -- it's public.

Hence why private chatrooms were made. This has been discussed a lot.

Yes, this has been discussed before. In gory detail. The result was the privatization of the LDB, hiding of the forums from search engines, and creation of private forums. I think it's at a good balance right now.

but how many people are seriously gonna search for "krenta journal" or something like that...unless someone has a journal with a name that has something to do with something a ton of people are interested in i dont think its a big deal.

The point is that Google is still indexing and caching (quite recently) at least a few parts of the forum. That's all.

If you examine the UER Robots file http://www.uer.ca/robots.txt, you will clearly see that the actual forum content sections are excluded from the search engines.

yeah i understand what you were saying, just i didnt figure your name would come up much. however i got really bored and curious and these may be interesting: "Sniper's journal" (snipz0r's) came up on the 1st page: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=sniper%27s+journal&btnG=Google+Search "Vigilante's journal" (vigilante's) came up first on the first page http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=vigilante%27s+journal&btnG=Google+Search "Evil clone world domination" (freak's) came up on the 6th page under Infiltration http://www.google.com/search?q=evil+clone+world+domination&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&start=50&sa=N "general thought and idiocy" (ndillon31's) came up second on the first page under Infiltration http://www.google.com/search?q=general+thoughts+and+idiocy&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&start=0&sa=N "skrolls" (silentknight's) came up last on the second page under Infiltration http://www.google.com/search?q=skrolls&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&start=10&sa=N but "musings" (crossfire's) "666" (porfzilla's) "the cold north" (kimmo's) "bittersweet home alabama" (servo's) and "mission logs" (slim jim's) didnt show up on atleast the first 20 pages. thought these has more potential to be searched.
