Yaya is probably right about reaching out by PM being best. But whether by PM or by post, do not commit the sin of out and out asking for locations. It is much, much better to ask to meet someone, have a coffee or beer together and "talk about" exploration.
The absolute best approach is to post some pics, respond to others' threads and give people the chance to get to know you on-line.
Here in South, we are pretty inclusive and welcoming to newcomers, but until we know a new guy, we have no way to be sure he isn't a scrapper or a troublemaker.
You have inadvertently provided a GREAT IDEA for a thread! I'll run with it!

Location: North Dallas, Richardson
Interests: abandonments (but not high risk ones), drains, creeks and innawoods stuff, historic buildings, cemeteries
Transportation: car for me and one or two others
Photographer: nope, not even. Don't mind if you do, but give me a heads up if you are dragging a lotta gear or spending mucho time for the perfect shot
Availability: most weekends and most weekdays after 3 pm or so.
